Mum's Taxi

Do any of you find that you loose a day driving children here and there. I had today all mapped out. As the day was going to be 38-40 degrees, an early start was called for. My 6 month old camera not working and needing to be dropped off in the city. It had to go today as it is needed for a wedding in 4 weeks time. Then a trip to the Adelaide Markets, (my first in about 10 years) for saucing and bottling tomatoes. Then pick up Kate from the airport at 12.45pm., and then home. So much for a plan, 1st change - drop Josh at 10am Burnside, then the camera. Next stop Adelaide Markets. I got 30 kg of tomatoes, two Christmas hams + fruit and Veg. The hams were a bargain, $68 dollars down to $20. A phone call from Beth while shopping meant a dash to pick her up from her walk to the beach. She had started out fine but was finding it a bit of a struggle walking back home. We live at St Marys and it takes us 15-20 minutes to drive to the beach. I rushed to get her home and then went to the airport to get Kate. More shopping on the way home, dropping in at the shop to say hello to Hubby, making it home by 2.30pm. What a hectic day. I have already made one batch of German relish and have a second lot ready to go. That leaves 20kg of tomatoes to bottle tomorrow. Bed is calling, but its News Years Eve, with fireworks and a thunder storm sometime after Midnight. I know that sleep will be in short supply, as Smudge our dog will be needing me to comfort her all nigh!!!
thanks for stopping.

PS Will post some photos of my Collection squares tomorrow. I manage to get 50 made this week.

Another Day At Home - Scrapbooking

Beth and I spent Friday scrapbooking together. She made a layout using the new K&Co Autumn range which I will post tomorrow. I made more Squares. In fact I made 25 squares. I love making them. Each one is a mini work of art. I can use all the little bits and pieces which on 12x12 pages would be totally lost. If you haven't worked out what I am making them for then I will tell. We need 256 for a 24x24 inch canvas. Included in the 256 is lots of photo squares and even a family tree. It is going to be stunning with all the strong colours and embellishments we have used. Its my "Where's Wally" Project. As each time you look at it, you are going to find some thing you didn't see last time. Just had to share my dress form square as it is my favorite to date.
Make sure you check our our store blog as I have been posting there as well.
Spending another day with Beth scrapbooking. I will be doing more Madeline and Actopus to Zelphant
This time its in the family room with tables from the shop!!

A Trip to India

Here is a layout I have just done for my Design Team at Addicted to Craft. It is always exciting to get a parcel from the Addicted to Craft People. Sometimes it is met with ooh's and other sounds of delight. Sometimes it's more mmm! This project was definitely a mmm! The papers are from Rouge de Garance and the line is called a trip to India. The papers were amazingly bright with big bold flowers and interesting borders. A bit daunting for someone who loves old world charm. So first things first - A photo (taken in the Rockhampton Japan Gardens). I then cut three borders from the papers and two big blue flowers. The flowers I scalped around the petals from the middle to the outside ones. This let me lift the petals up, I then glued the finished flower to a white piece of paper and cut them out.

I added some ribbon and more cut outs. A piece of left over rub on and a Butterfly swirl pearl from Prima. Very happy with my layout. In fact the more I look at the bright colours the more I like it. This is what's great about being on the Team. You get to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. Don't forget to check out the other team members layouts on the Addicted to craft blog. I have put a link in for you to click. Addicted to Craft blog Link

Spring poetry

My amazing Daughter Kate entered some of her poetry in the spring poetry competition run by the The South Australian Teachers' Association. She had one accepted. We were invited to the launch of the book, and presentation of awards (given to some of the Students). Each person who had a poem in the book received a copy. Here is a copy Kates Poem.
A POEM BY KATE TREGENZA

Cancer

Sadly crying softly
She cowered on the floor
Feeling so abjectly
Her life would be no more

Cancer, starting slowly
Was taking over life
Making her feel lowly
And filling life with strife

No money for her mend
No shelter from the storms
No family or friend
Danger in many forms

Life was slowly ending
With tears, sorrow and pain
The world, uncomprehending
Had left her to the rain

What an amazing Talented Lady

Art and crafts by Itkupilli
Doing some blog looking tonight and found this amazing lady. Just love her work. Its so lovely, beautiful, amazing and generous. CHECK IT OUT!!!.
She also has some of her work for sale as collage sheets and digital design kits. She is a Finnish designer living in LA. I have used one of her blog designs for my blog.

So So Sorry!

No excuses for not updating. So before I see Sue on Thursday I thought I had better update my blog. Have you been checking out the Addicted to craft Blog? We are working on "12 Weeks to Christmas". Each week one of us will do a project. Mine was this week, so the photo is of a box that you can make. Check out the addicted to craft blog to see more photos. You can make the project and submit. One entry will be chosen each week to win a prize. So keep checking each week.

On the shop front - our birthday went very well. Cake & Coffee and 20% off what a good combination. Classes have been busy and lots of you have been coming. We had our 1st Affirmation class with Heather. The second one will be on a Monday Morning later this month. This class is not to be missed as Heathers work is amazing. Poor Nat has been sick. But getting better. Her classes and projects are just great. Step has some truly creative classes happening. Me, well just lots of the same. I am enjoying my time as a design member for a Addicted to Craft. The other ladies are all very talent and do stunning work. There is a link to their blogs so check them out.
On the home front, well this weekend is kind of special. I am a Christadelphan and once a year we all get together for a special weekend. I am one of the caterers for the weekend with a team of other wonderful people. Normally I do a tea for about 800 people with help from lots and lots of people. This year its hot lunch for 14oo!!. I ask, what do you cook for 1400? I am attempting jacket potatoes with fillings. Will take some photos over the weekend. Should keep me out of trouble.

My Addicted to craft Challenge

Hi Everyone.

Check out the Addicted to craft blog. The design team was given the challenge to do a layout using - Green, Pink and Red. The layouts look great, we all have a different style. My layout journalling reads - Dip your pipe and gently blow, watch the tiny bubble grow, big and bigger, round and fat - rainbow coloured and then SPLAT.
I used a stunning product called memories mists - iridescent. Whatever you spray it on goes iridescent. I used it on the flowers in this layout.
Don't forget the scrapbooking and stamping fair this weekend at the show grounds on Sunday. We will be there. Also our all Day Scrap is filling up fast, so don't miss out.
thanks for looking

PS: On the Dad front. He is going HOME this Wednesday.

Need to get back on track

Sorry for not posting for a while, too much has been happening. On the good news front my beautiful daughter (their all beautiful) has got engaged to a lovely man. Very exciting news for us all. Wedding plans are underway, there is so much to do. The wedding will be next year late January(God Willing). The photos are of the ring and Leah. Taken with my new camera. Leah was in a wedding about 2 weeks ago. Already it seems like ages. The shop continues to be busy, our new time table is out and classes filling. Plans for our all day scrap to be held 5th September are under way. Over 50 people have booked in already. So if you are thinking about joining us, don't leave it too late. On the sad news front, my very special Dad has had a stroke. He is doing well, able to move his limbs and follow instructions. He knows family and most close friends and is able to say their names if asked. He is unable to talk very much, if asked a question he just says yes. He can repeat phrases if ask to. His recovery will take time. How much we take what we have for granted. Its not until it is taken away that we realise in full how blessed we really are. Will post again soon.

thanks

Wow - its Christmas already!!!

We had a big shipment from America arrive yesterday. The smile on Nat's face say's it all. 100kgs of new and top ups of other stock lines. The new EK boarder punches are just perfect and have been used in a project already. In the order are the 12x12 and 8.5x8.5 paper pads for Que Sera Sera and Madeline. We also got the albums to match. We received a top up of pads and Albums for Ancestry and Blue Awnings. Lots of new Daisy Bucket stamps. Some more Tim Holtz emblishments. In fact 5 big boxes of beautiful, emblishments, papers and punches.

Just be yourself

The second one is of Beth. I had done this one in a class using Making Memories papers. I did it again using Prima papers. The title is our chipboard letters again inked and stamped with an old french writing stamp. The Flower is from Prima as is the lace. The florish in the top left corner is a Heidi Swapp sticker. The title reads " in a world where you can be what ever you want...Just be yourself". I have printed it onto bazzill and cut it out into strips. The Photo is amazing - Beth took it herself in her room. She chose a setting on her camera for fluro lighting, then sat facing a window. Pure Magic.

Some more Layouts

Hi another couple of layouts for you. These are ones I did for Addicted to Craft, when I was sending sample of my work for consideration for their design team. The first one is of Josh and Kate. I used Dream Street papers and our own chipboard letters. I inked the letters and stamped them with a little flourish stamp from Maya Rd. I just added some brads and ribbons - done.

It is my Turn

Hi Everyone I got my weeks mixed up. I am updating the Addicted to crafts blog this week. This means I can share with you layouts I have done for them. So here is one. This is one for those of you who love Heritage. I have used October Afternoon papers, the range is called Country Fair. I have used Tim Holtz distress ink (Vintage Photo) round the edges of all my papers. The scallop strip, corners and journalling block all come from a diecut sheet. I stamped the title, inked the edges and then stamped around the edge of the title with another stamp from MME. I cut the flowers from one of the print papers and layered them. To finish them of I used dimensional magic on the centers. Check out the Addict to Crafts Blog for more photos of this layout.
Thanks for stopping by.

Where did April Go, if you find it can you return it to Me!!!

That month just flew by and I had such great plans for posting every couple of days, or at lest twice a week. Too late now was the cry. Have to try better next time. I have the fun of hosting Addicted to crafts blog for the week starting Monday. I will be posting some of my layouts I have done for them. I thought I should show you some of my favorite layouts over this month. Starting today - one of my son and husband on the pirate ship ride at Water World. I hate rides, even the Ferris wheel at the show is too much for me. So this photo was a true test of love. Josh was determined for me to experience at lest one ride at the theme park. And as a good Mum I agreed if I could take a photo(spoken by a true scrapbooking addict). So I climb on and shut my eyes, so far so good. Then it started and after a couple of swings backward and forward I knew I was in big big trouble. Holding on with one hand and clutching my camera in the other I opened my eyes and took the photo, then shut them for the rest of the ride. At the top of the swing of the ride my bottom was leaving the seat!!! and I only had one hand to hang on with otherwise my camera would have been hitting the head of the person in front. NOT GOOD and NEVER AGAIN. After a long long time it stopped and I was able to get off. I'm told that the view from the top of the ship over the whole park is fanstic, I have to take their word for it.

My Day Off

Yesterday we had another 18 ladies do their "my childhood box of memories" class with me. Everyone had a great time and went home with a special box. It was great listening to the childhood memories and stories that they shared with each other. To me this is what scrapbooking is all about. We still have one more class to do this month. We will repeat it later this year. Today after Sunday Service I will be cutting the kit for our Mothers day Book for the class on Tuesday, 17 ladies will be joinning me for the day. We have had heaps of new product arrive in our store this past week, with more to arrive next week. Next weeks deliverys will include all our collections product from Julie Van Ooston and Check Spellingmore. I have included a photo from Sydney. Another photo for my special idea I have.

Another Day Another Post!

Want to share some more photos of Sydney. Addicted to Crafts had a show stand, it was so nice to see some of my layouts on display for all to see. I also did a show and tell using the steward memory mists ( not sure if this is their correct name). They were amazing, simple to use and look just like super fine glitter. Also met Julie Van Ooston from Collections. Love her work and stand. I will be doing a Collections class each month in the shop, for those who love miniatures or eclectic works of art. This month will be an 8x8 canvas.

Keep scraping

Some More News

I had a great time at the show. Did some classes and Met some lovely people. I got all inspired for some great new classes and project. I took lots of photos. Just love Sydney, Kathy and I spend Thursday morning in town. We walked from the train station to the Queen Vic building for some shopping. I think I took about 180 photos of building, arches, windows and carvings on all the old buildings. Got another 100 photos inside the QV building. I have a great idea for a project using my photos. Will keep you posted. Will find time to post again later this week.

Finally in Sydney, but where's my bag!!!

Kathy and I finally arrived in Sydney after a two hour delay, but no luggage, which means no tools or clothes. Kathy had a carry on bag, so in full view of half of Adelaide who were also catch planes, I repacked some vitals into her bag. We put all our dangerous weapons in my bag and handed it over. It is now late at night, a full day tomorrow, I have borrowed some scrapbooking items from Beth and heading off to bed. Hopefully my bag will arrive tomorrow ready for Wednesday classes. Catch you all later

Its been pretty busy in the shop this last week. I posted off my three layouts for SIA today. I found it hard letting go of them and leaving them in the safe (I hope) hands of Australia Post. SIA is the Scrapbooking Industry Australia Expo, held in Sydney in two weeks time. Kathy and I will be attending and doing some classes. I will put post photos of my layouts when I get them back.

Sunday, March 08, 2009

Well its that time again and so I am working on the new time table. This is the classes we will be doing in shop for the next three months. Now what do I want to teach, may-be a mini book using graphic 45 or the new 7 gypsies range of paper. But then there is all the new K & Company papers which will be arriving soon. Too much to chose from, so I will probably do all three and more. Look out for the news letter coming to you soon.

Saturdays Class Photo and Project

Thought I would share with you a class I taught on Saturday. I had 14 Ladies join me for the day and we made "Our Box of Childhood Memories". This is a project I did over Christmas Holidays. We decorated the box and made 6 booklets to go inside. Each one had a different theme, and has room for photos, along with tags for your memories. We will be running this class again, you can contact the shop for dates and times.

I think I'm getting the hang of this, could become quite addictive. This was my first canvas, I did it 2yrs ago, I managed to get my kids to let me take some photos. I edited the photos to exaggerate the contrast between the black and white. This got rid of any distractions in the back ground.

I can't quite believe I have a blog, special thanks to Natalie May for setting it up for me. I hope to add some layouts and samples of my work soon.
First Blog Post!
