Graphic 45 and Petaloo Blog Hop - Day 5

Hello Eveyone
Today it is my turn along with two of my Graphic 45 Design Team Members and Irene from Petaloo,
Gloria Stengel: www.gloriascraps.blogspot.com
Betto Cesare: http://scrapguys.blogspot.com
Irene Tan: http://petaloo.typepad.com/
We all get to share our Petaloo and Graphic 45 projects.
Once I received my beautiful flowers from Petaloo. There was lots of different flowers to choose from. I knew I wanted to do a Christmas Wreath. I chose some of the larger red flowers and some smaller green ones. I wanted my wreath to be easy but also a challange. So that anyone who is just starting out could have a go, but also for someone who is looking for a challange. So I have come up with two options.

First is the easy wreath, its very pretty and quite quick to make. You can use it for a gift basket and fill with yummy goodies.

Then if your up for a challange, well the "optional" extra's on the wreath are for you. I have filled in the middle of the wreath with a scene from Nutcracker Sweet.
So lets get started, gather all your bits and pieces together. I found a bowl from a cheap shop for my wreath. It cost about $4, its about 10-11 inches across and is made out of wire. It is about 2 inches deep. I brought some gold tinsel, and Christmas ribbons. I choose my Graphic 45 print papers. I used 5 sheets of "Nutcracker Sweet". I also used "Holiday Magic" and "Enchanted Journey". In the photo below you can see the packets of Petaloo Flowers. I used the red and green ones.

Use a hot glue gun and adhere a row of tinsel around the edge of your bowl.

I hand drew a holly leaf and traced around it. I needed about 16 leaves out of "Enchanted Journey" and 40 leaves out of "Holiday Magic".

Ink around each of the leaves and put a slight bend along the middle of each leaf.

Using a hot glue gun adhere one cream leaf then two green ones.

Work your way around the wreath. Glue the leaves in a combination of one cream, and two green leaves.

Your wreath should look like this, once you are finished.

Chose a selection of flowers, tie some small bows with some Christmas organza ribbon and hot glue them to the back of your flowers. I did five flowers like this.

I found some old berries and pussy willow and added them to my wreath, then I glued the five flowers on. I only wanted them to fill in about 1/3 of the wreath.

I glued the five flowers on with about an inch gap between them. I then added some green Petaloo flowers in between the bigger red flowers along with some more Christmas ribbons.
That's the easy option, a perfect gift basket for a very special person.

For those of you wanting to fill in the middle of your basket, then here is what I did.

Cut a circle out of "Nutcracker Sweet" Cut some small nicks around the edges of your circle and put some pleats in the paper so it will fit in side your bowl.

Use your hot glue gun and adhere it to the bottom of your bowl underneath your holly leaves.

Now all you need to do is cut lots of the elements out of the "Nutcracker Sweet". From one sheet cut the curtains out of your print paper. Fold them along the lines of the pleats in the curtains. Cut out the purple banner from the bottom of your print paper.

From another sheet of "Nutcracker Sweet" cut out the tin soldier, Ballerina and clock holly.
From another sheet of "Nutcracker Sweet" cut out the bows on the curtains, the ballerina's dress, sleeve and arm, and head, also the tin soldiers head.
From your last sheet of "Nutcracker Sweet" cut out the clock.
Once you have all the pieces, lay them on top of the images on your bowl and work out how they will all fit. Use your hot glue gun and adhere the pieces. Each piece needs to be raised up. Follow the instructions below.
Adhere the curtains on at the top of your wreath lining it up with the picture on the base of your bowl. Don't worry if there is a gap at the top of your wreath. I glued some more leaves onto the wreath to hide the gap. Glue your banner on at the bottom of your wreath. It sits on top of the leaves and flowers. Glue the tin soldier onto the side of your wreath, it will only attach at the top and bottom. He sits right out, just under the leaves. Glue your clock on with the holly on top. Cut a strip of paper from your spare Graphic 45 print paper to one inch wide and 5 inches long. Fold it every one inch to make a cube. Glue it to the base of your bowl. This will allow you to glue your ballerina to your bowl so it sits an inch up from the base of your bowl.
You could keep adding more elements to your in soldier and ballerina if you want to.
Hope you have a go at making a wreath for this Christmas

thanks for looking.

Another Page in our Graphic 45 Book

 Hello Everyone,
I have been a bit busy this week, and I am now in Perth visiting my Sister and her family. I didn't get time to post this on Wensday last week. This is the next page in my Graphic 45 Book. It is a page for Kate, my youngest daughter. I used Graphic 45's "ABC Primer" papers. I love the strong colours in this collection. I designed the page so if you want to use it for more than one child you can. Just use a group photo of your children and then make a bookmark for each of them. The book marks tuck under the flap, which opens on the right side of the page. There is space on this page for three large photos as well as lots of book marks.
For the full instructions on how to make this page, click on the link below.

Graphic 45's Online Tutorial - Page

Hello everyone
well it's that time again, I can't believe that a month has gone since I posted the last one. This time it is a page for our children/grandchildren, or siblings. It's a page with a pocket and lots of tags, you can add more tags if you want to.

So let's get down to it.
Founation Page
Instructions for creating a foundation page:
Each month you will need to make a foundation page. For this you will need two black sheets of cardstock.
Cut one to 8 ½ x11 inches- set it aside. Cut your second one to 9 ½ x 11 inches. Please keep the left over bits as you will need them later on.

The 9 ½ x 11 inches piece needs to be scored, place it in your cutter at 8 ½ inch mark and score it, this will give you a one inch seam.

Completely fill in the one inch seam with strong tape.

Carefully adhere the 8 ½ inch piece onto the 9 1/2 inches piece. Make sure you don’t go
over your scored seam, or your page will not fold. Once you have it on, carefully fold the page over to check that it will shut.

Press firmly along the folded over piece, open up your page and check at the two pages line up nicely. Don’t worry if one of your pages is now wider than the other. You can trim it back to make them the same.

You need to add some more tape along the join of your foundation page. Adhere one strip of tape along one side of the join and about an inch of tape on the other side of the join.

A close up of the join with the tape each side. When you come to adhere your print papers, one piece will be an inch wider that the other page. The extra inch will need to be adhered over the top of the inch of tape on the foundation page.

Please follow the instructions carefully. Read each instruction to the end, before cutting. Lots of the papers are used on the tag as well as for your page, so you need to cut them the way I describe or you will run out of paper! All chipboard has been sprayed white. All papers have had their edges inked using Colorbox Liquid Chalk ink – Chestnut Roan.

Please note, I am only human and do make mistakes, I have taken every care while writing the instructions, and hope they make sense. It is quite hard to write instructions as I know what I mean; but this does not always translate into the instructions. If you are unable to work something out, then please ask a question in the comments box at the end of the post and I will answer it for you as best I can. Or email me at jane@seriouslyscrapbooking.net.au

Materials List
Little Darlings Collection
2x Lullaby                               1x Little Treasures          1 x Baby Borders
1 x New Arrival                       1/2 x Rock-A-Bye           1/2x Cherished
Once upon a Springtime Die Cut Frames
3x Black Cardstock and 2 Yellow, + 1 of each of Pink and blue cardstock
Imaginarium Designs Chipboard – IDC0002 Swirl corners.
White  Brads and assorted Ribbons
Color Box Fluid Chalk-chestnut roan,                3L 12x12 Adhesive sheets     Wet Glue

The instructions for creating your 3rd page.

Before we start the page, we need to cut some borders from our “Baby Border” print paper. Please cut the borders as shown above. We need 8 strips in total. Don’t cut all the strips into pieces, as we need the bottom one to be 4 borders wide.

Have a good look at the back of your sheet of “Lullaby” print paper.  It has a border all the way around the print. The top left and right corners of the print paper has a fancy corner printed on it. We are going to use these fancy corners from both sheets. Now look at the border. It is in from the edge of your print paper, this gives us a nice creamy edge. We are going to remove the borders from each sheet. I need you to cut each border piece one at a time using a craft knife and a ruler. Place your ruler on the inside edge of your border, but leave a little bit of the cream on it. Cut all four sides, making sure you don’t cut through the fancy corners at the top.

Once you have cut all four sides, you can cut across each corner and remove the middle of your print paper. Do this to each print paper. The middle bit is what we will be using for our pages. Separate the corners from the borders.

Because we removed the borders the print paper is now about the right hight for our page. So now all we need to do is cut it to the right width. Put the first piece in your trimmer in the right way up, so you can read the writing. Cut it to 9 ¼ inches wide.
For the second sheet of print paper, we need to put the print into our trimmer upside down. The images will need to be upside down. Trim it back to 8 ¼ wide.

You need to completely cover the back of both pieces of Lullaby Print Papers with adhesive. You can use double sided adhesive paper or tape, if you use tape make sure you butt it together with no gaps in between each piece.

Adhere the 9 ¼ inch wide piece to your black foundation page first. Try and have the same amount of black showing along the top and bottom on your page. Remember this print paper is one inch wider, so it will go over the join on your foundation page onto the other page. You should have tape on your foundation page to help adhere your print paper over the join. Don’t worry if your print paper is not on straight. You are going to add a border around the page.

Carefully fold your page over, use your finger to run along the seam as you fold the page up and over. This will create a fold that you can see and use to line up your second piece.

Now you need to adhere your 8 ¼ inch piece. Make sure you are away from the centre fold of your page or you page will not shut nicely. To make it easier for yourself, don’t remove all the backing from your adhesive paper or tape. Just take a little strip off. Then if you don’t quite line it up right you can lift it off and try again.

Carefully fold your page over, use your finger to run along the seam as you fold the page up and over. Fold the whole page over and run your hand firmly along the fold to set the crease.

Find your sheet of “New Arrival”. We need to cut it so that we have lots of pieces to use on our page, pocket and tags. Use the photo as a guide. You need to cut all the pieces as follows. You need to have, one piece two stamps wide and 8 stamps long. Plus the three images from the middle, and the two pieces, above and below the images.  You also need another piece, 6 stamps wide and 3 stamps high. Keep all the left over pieces, as we still need to cut some extra pieces for our tags.

Now you are going to make the pocket. From your sheet of yellow cardstock, cut two rectangles 5 ¾ inches x 8 inches. We only need one for the pocket; once the pocket is finished you will be adhering the second one to the back to cover all the brads. From your sheet of “Little treasures”, cut a piece 5 ½ inches x 7 ¾ inches. Cut the 5 ½ inches first then cut the piece back to 7 ¾ inches. Ink around the edges and adhere it to your piece of yellow cardstock. You should have a little bit of yellow showing at the left end and at the top of your yellow rectangle, don’t worry about having any yellow showing at the bottom or if you have too much at the right end. We will be hiding the right end and the bottom with a border.
Cut a second piece from your “Little Treasures” to 4 ½ x 7 inches. Adhere it to your pocket about ½ inches in from the left and ½ inch down from the top.  From your sheet of “Baby Borders” find the strip that has the cute little baby faces on it. Cut it so you have 7 faces and add it to your pocket about 3 inches down from the top of your pocket. Save the leftover piece of baby border, you will need it for a tag.

Choose one of the images from your sheet of “New Arrival”. Cut a piece of yellow cardstock, 3 ½ inches wide x 3 1/8 inches high.  Adhered your image to the middle of the yellow mat. Cut another mat from your blue cardstock, it needs to be 3 ¾ inches wide x 3 ½ inches high.

Adhere the image to your pocket; use the photo as a guide.  Add two white brads and a title to finish the pocket. Add your second yellow rectangle to the back of your pocket.

Now we need to place our pocket onto our page. It is to be a pocket with the left and top edge not attached to your page. You will need to put tape on your founation page, so the pocket is attached to the page on the right and bottom side and corner of your page only. Use the photo as a guide. Please don’t worry about the right side of your page yet!

This border is done slightly different to our first and second page, so please read the instructions carefully. You need to sort your borders out. Some have the pattern running all one way and the some have the pattern changing direction in the middle. We need four pieces with the pattern running the same way. These need to be used at the top and bottom of our page. The ones that change direction, we need to use two of them, one for each side of our page. We will be starting in the bottom left corner of our page, then doing the bottom right corner. Next will be the top and lastly the sides.

We will not be doing a mitred corner for this page. Trim the left edge of your border so it is straight. Start that the bottom of your page and at the left edge. You need to be just in from the left edge of the page and just up from the bottom. We need to have a little bit of black showing at the bottom and side of your page.
Adhere the first strip on your page, and run it across your page over the join and onto your pocket. It needs to go across the page and onto the pocket about an inch.  Place the second strip on your page, start in the bottom right corner of your page and run it across your pocket and over the top of the other border. Trim it back so it is not near the fold on your page. Adhere the strip to your page.
Now you can adhere your border at the top of your page. Start in the left corner. Adhere your border and run it over the join in the middle of your page. Go over the fold in the middle of your page for about an inch. Place the other border on your page and trim it to fit. It needs to go over the top of the first border and finish near the fold in the middle of your page. It must not go over the fold. Once you have it trimmed, you can adhered it to your page.

Now you can do the left edge page border and the right edge page border. They can overlap the top or bottom borders in the corners. Trim each end to fit and adhere it to your page.

Your corners should look like this.

Find your four corners and trim them back to match the photo above. Glue them to your page; try to match up the corners with the borders. They need to meet on the outer edges.  Don’t worry if they don’t quite match as we are going to add some chipboard corners.

Your page should now look like this. All the borders on and corners gluded on as well.

Now it is time to do work on the left side of your page.
Find your piece of “New Arrival” that is two stamps wide and 6 stamps high. Mat it onto a piece of blue cardstock. Adhere it to your page.
Find your piece of “New Arrival” that is 6 stamps wide and 3 stamps high. Turn it over and adhere it to your page.

From your sheet of “Once upon a Springtime “die cut frames, remove the largest frame. Punch out the middle bit and keep it for your tags. Place a photo under it the frame and add it to your page. Add a chipboard title to the bottom of the frame.

To finish your page add four chipboard corners.

Tags Tutorial - Page 3
By Jane Tregenza
All artwork, images, instructions and design are copyrighted 2012
Instructions for creating the Tags.
Please follow my instructions carefully, as you will need all the left over bits of your print paper. Remember to ink the edges of all the following pieces, except the black cardstock. Please note that I have not added any names, dates for any information to my tags. You will need to add your own personal details for each child to each tag.
1st Tag
Front side
From your blue cardstock, cut a rectangle 4 ½ inches x 7 ½ inches. Corner round all four corners, using a punch. Cut a rectangle from your spare “New Arrival” print paper. It needs to be 4 ¼ inches
x 7 ¼ inches, corner round all the corners as well. Ink around the edges and adhere it to your blue cardstock tag.

From your “Baby Border” sheet of print paper, find the piece that has the blue kewpie dolls on it, cut it so it is about 9 inches long.  Adhere it to your page about 1 ¼ inches up from the bottom of your tag and wrap the ends around to the back of your tag; they should nearly met in the middle on the back of your tag. Cut a black mat 3 ¾ inches x 6 inches out of black and adhere it to your tag.  Add a photo and title to finish your tag.
 Back Side
Choose an image from your “New Arrival” print paper. Cut a yellow mat 3 ½ inches wide and 3 ¼ inches high. Adhere your image to your yellow mat, don’t adhere it to your tag yet. Cut a black mat 3 ½ inches wide and 3 ¼ inches high. Cut a piece from your “Baby Border” print paper. I used the blue lace border. Cut it to 4 3/8 inches and adhere it to your tag about 1 inch down from the top of your tag. Now you can add your two squares to your tag. Punch two cardstock circles and two paper washers. Glue one circle and one washer together. Glue one each side at the top of your tag lining them up. Punch a hole through the washer and feed some ribbons through the hole and tie them with a knot. Add some photos to finish your tag.
2 nd  Tag
Front Side
Cut a rectangle 4 ¾ inches x 8 inches out of your pink cardstock. Cut the left corner off your tag using your eye. Place the cut piece on top of your tag in the right corner and cut it to match.  Use a corner rounder on the bottom two corners.
Cut a rectangle 4 5/8 inches x 7 7/8 inches from the “Cherished” print paper.  You need to make the print paper match the cardstock tag at the top. To do this, place the print paper under your tag. Line your print up the top of the tag and the left edge of the tag, trim along the corner to match. Move the print paper over to the right edge of your tag, making sure it matches up at the top and side. Trim the edge again.  They should match your tag.

Ink around the edges of your print paper and adhere it to your cardstock tag. Cut a rectangle from “Cherished” 3 inches x  4 1/4 , turn it over and adhere it to your tag. Find your butterfly border from “Baby Border”, cut to 10 inches. Adhere it to the front of your tag about ¾ of an inch up from the bottom of your tag and wrap it around to the back of your tag. Remove your Medium pink frame, add a photo to your tag and adhere the frame over the top.  Glue a chipboard word to the bottom of the frame to finish the front of your tag.
Back Side

Find your piece of four borders from “Baby Border”, cut it back to 4 5/8 inches wide and adhere it to your tag near the top. Find your strip from “Baby Border” with the phrase Little Darling, cut one and mat it onto a piece of pink cardstock. Add it to your tag partly on the border print paper.  Cut a mat from your black cardstock, 3 ½ inches x 5 inches. Cut a second yellow mat, 3 3/4 inches x 5 1/4 inches. Adhere the black mat to the yellow and add it to your tag. Find one of the small frames and a stamp from our left over “New Arrivals”. Mat the stamp onto a piece of yellow cardstock. Add the finished piece to the small frame. Add your photo to the tag and adhere the small frame over the top. Punch two cardstock circles and two paper washers. Glue one circle and one washer together. Glue one each side at the top of your tag lining them up. Punch a hole through the washer and feed some ribbons through the hole and tie them with a knot.
Tag 3
