My First Post on 3L Adhesives Blog

For my first project for 3L, I decided to use a photo of Anna taken at her 21stbirthday. I love altered art projects, so I decided to use one from Imaginarium Designs. It is one of their altered art kits called billboards- “you light up my life”. This is would be the perfect project for sitting on a desk or bookcase and would make a lovely gift. You can theme it for any occasion, I have made them for baby gifts and even Christmas table decorations.  I always ink around the edges of my papers before I stick them down as I like the look and find it hides the white edges. I find that Colorbox fluid chalk ink pad in the cats eye shape to be the best. For this project I used olive pastel.

I used papers from Teresa Collins collection called Fabrications. The papers from this collection are thick and have a linen look to them. They are also double sided, so choose which patterns you like.
www.teresacollins.typepad.com
For this project I used 3L Adhesive Sheets, this makes covering the chipboard project quick. I used it for the larger pieces of my project, manly the front and back pieces of the billboard part. I placed a piece of print paper slightly larger than the chipboard shapes onto the adhesive sheet. Lay the chipboard shapes on top and trace around the shapes. You can neither cut them out with scissors or peel the backing of the adhesive sheet and stick them down. You run then around the edge with a craft knife.

For the two base pieces, I found the E-Z runner work perfectly for this, as the runner is made up of small rectangles this lets you go around a curve. I put the tape onto the chipboard and taped them down to my print paper, then ran around the edge with a craft knife.

Use the E-Z runner to tape the two bases together.

Use the tape runner and cover the two stands with print paper, these then push into the bases and let you insert the billboard between them.

I added a chipboard cog which I inked black and the word“you” which I printed onto the print paper and cut it out.

I used a large butterfly disk from K&Co and stuck it onto one of the print papers. I traced around it and cut it out. I used the tape runner again as I wanted to stick it onto the small oval chipboard shape and need to go around the curve of the chipboard.

Then I adhered it to the top of my billboard, again I used the E-Z tape runner.

I matted my photo onto black Bazzill. I added a photo corner to each corner of the matted photo then stuck it down again to another pieces of black Bazzill. I love photo corners and use the black one’s on nearly all by projects and layouts. I like the classic look it gives to my work. I used 3 large size 3D Foam squares (black variety), I love these squares and use them by the packets. I like the fact that this packet comes with two different sizes. Big ones for larger areas and small ones for my mini projects. I adhered the photo to my billboard on a slight angle.
For the flowers and leaves I used DodzRepositionable for the quote first to make sure it would fit, once I worked out where it needed to go, I removed one word/phrase at the time and used the E-Z Runner permanent tape to adhered them back down. The finished size of this project is about 6 inches high and 3 ½ inches wide.

3L scrapbooking Adhesives, certainly made this project quick and hassle free. They have an adhesive to cover any situation you may find yourself in when making a mini project like this. Whether you need your adhesive in big sheets to cover large areas or small pieces to go around curves, they have got it covered!

Another Year with Graphic 45, can't believe it.

It is 11.30pm local time and I am just leaving the store after a late night Scrap. Nat has just checked Graphic 45's Blog and found my name on the list. Still shaking and can't quite believe it. Had heart palpitations while reading the list. Wow another year with my favorite company so privilege and delighted. Congratulations to all the talented people on the list. Speical Whoo hoo for fellow design team member from Imaginarium Designs - Maiko and a special Whoo Hoo Hoo for Gloria - fellow Graphic 45 team member from the past two years and fellow Imaginarium Design team mate.
Will have to visit every one's Blog and leave messages tomorrow. I am feeling sorry for those who did not make the list, who must be feeling a big sad. Also want to say special goodbys to the other design team members from last year who did not make it again this year.
I have this project to share, it was featured on Graphic 45's Blog last week but I decided to hang on to it as a final piece to show if I didn't make the team. I had quite a few emails in regards to how I made it, so if you want me to post a couple of tutorials on making it then you had better leave a comment ask me to do it. If enough of you would like it then I will post the instructions (I hate writing instructions - but it is good for the soul to do things you don't like doing to make up for all the things you get to do that you like doing!)

Have to go to bed now as I have another big day ahead tomorrow with 25 ladies in the store doing a mini half day scrap.
thanks for looking.
From a very Happy Jane.

3L Adhesive Design Team for 2012

Now I can share some exciting  news. I have been invited to join the 3L Adhesive Design Team for 2012. I am a bit fan of their products, they make the some amazing foam squares and black photo corners of which I go through packets and packets. I have yet to visit and meet all the other team members blogs, will try and do this later today, as I am teaching this morning. Now all I need to do is make the Graphic 45 team and "my cup will be running over". I sent them a book, one of my best to date, hopefully I will be able to share some photo's later on.
So that's all for now, I do have a project from Graphic 45 that I want to share on my blog, will have to do it over the weekend.
Thanks so much for looking.

Another Layout for Graphic 45

Hello everyone
One of my layouts from CHA is on Graphic 45's Blog. It is one I did on the two most important men in my life.
I love the new “Olde Curiosity Shoppe” papers. This is a layout I did on my husband and son. They are on a ride at Water World (QLD) I started with two cardstocks, the first one was black with an aqua blue cardstock on top. I then put a piece of “Exquisite Motif” which is one of my favourite prints. I used “Olde Curiosity Shoppe" print for the diamond frame, which I double matted in black and terra cotta. Then I layered it on top of “Exquisite Motif”. I place another piece of “Exquisite Motif on top of the “Old Curiosity Shoppe" paper (I used the reverse side). This gave me a wonderful foundation on which to do my layout. I double matted my photo and added it to the page. I added some brads in the corners. I love adding layers to my work so I added a piece of ”Optical Oddities” over lapping the photo. A piece of “When Pigs Fly” for the title and “Optical Oddities” for the stripes. I used a penny farthing bike backed with a piece of “Counting Down” I used a staples brad from Graphic 45 to attach it to the page . The chipboard title, boarder, flourish, bike and clock is all from Imaginarium Designs. I love all the strong colours in the layout. Even though the prints look floral, the page is still masculine and suits my boys perfectly.
I am not a ride kinda Girl, so when the boy's told me that the pirate ship ride was ok, I was a bit skeptical as I don't even like the ferris wheel! I was persuaded to get on the ride with the condition that the boys would sit in front of me and face me, so I could get a photo. I will never get on that ride again. I took the photo only a couple of seconds into it. By the time the ride really got going, I had my eyes tightly shut and hanging on for grim death, with my bottom leaving the seat at the top of the ride. Never - Never again, not even for a million photos.

  2. Have you caught up on the news that I am doing a feature in every Scrapbook Creations magazine for the rest of the year! I am doing a tutorial for my little squares project in their magazine every second month, the other month it will be on their online magazine. I taught this project at the Brisbane expo last year and promised the ladies I would do more and put the kits online. Well it has finally happened, the kits are online at Seriously Scrapbooking. The first kit is  online with the second and third kit to be released on the 14th of March. Seriously Scrapbooking do post overseas, although the website is not quite set up for it yet. Just email them and they will let you know how to go about it. They can also send you the cost of postage before you pay, so you know up font how much it will cost. To make a project like Diane's you will need about 10 different kits. Beware - this form of scrapbooking is highy addictive!  Seriously Scrapbooking have sold nearly 100 1st kits. It is so nice to think that so many ladies want to make one of my projects.
  3. Sam and I have also been working on some of the layouts I have done for Graphic 45 over the past two years and writing instructions  for them, we will be releasing a couple of kits each month with this one being available on the 14th of March. The patchwork kits and new layouts will be released together on the 14th of each month. Our plan is to get about 20 layouts done by the end of the year. I also hope to get some altered art kits done as well.
  4. I am teaching at the Brisbane Scrapbooking and Papercraft Expo (hope I got this the right way round) June long weekend. I am doing 9 classes for Seriously Scrapbooking and Imaginarium Designs. I will be using Graphic 45 papers for all three projects. I know that one will be a patchwork project, a male layout and a female layout. All three projects will be using Graphic 45's new Olde Curiosity Shoppe papers. You can start booking into my classes at the end of March on the Brisbane Scrapbooking and Papercraft Expo. I will put a link on the side of my blog in a day or two.
  5. If you are a store owner or teacher, I am doing some master classes at printblocks late April, you can contact them to book into my classes.
  6. For CHA Graphic 45 asked if any of the design would like to demonstrate. I put my hand up straight away and was delighted to hear that I could have a spot on the Monday. I did pop up cards. Graphic 45 have put my instructions into a pdf file that you can down load and I have copied the link. Jane's Pop up Baby Card please note that it is a 1.4MB file.
  7.  For CHA the design team was asked to make a tag. Here is some photo's of mine.
  8. This is the front of my tag, it is a mini Booklet.
The inside with a favorite photo of my girls

A close up of the detail, love the peacock feather from Imaginairum Designs.

Graphic 45 Design Team 2012 Audition

I  love this company, so much that I am going to apply again! As part of the design team submission, you have to create a post with a minimum of 6 projects. So here are some of my favorite Graphic 45 projects. I have lots of new projects to show, but they need to be shown on Graphic 45's blog before I can share them here, so I am going to share some old favorites. I am going to put them into three groups.
First - My Favorite Layouts.
Second - My Favorite Off the Page Projects
Third - My Favorite Books.
So make a cup of coffee and enjoy my trip down memory lane with Graphic 45 and some of my "all time favorites".
Some of My Favorite Layouts.
This is one of my favorite layouts, I did it for a Japan Scrapbooking Site. The photo is one I took at Alcatraz. I love all the metal elements and the way it all came together. The papers are one of Graphic 45's new releases
" Tropical Travelogue" and were a perfect match for my layout.
This is another favourite. The photo is of my son Josh, taken when he was about 12. The papers from the "Magic of Oz" were perfect for a boy's layout. I love the images that are on Graphic 45 papers, and the fact that they are perfect for cutting and layering on your layouts.
This is another favourite of three of my daughters. For this layout I used the "Magic of OZ" papers. The travel themed paper was perfect, again I cut the images out and layered them onto another print paper.

I did this one for a magazine. I love the way you can use Graphic 45 in so many ways. This one let me put lots of little photos on one layout.
Another favorite layout. You can use different papers from each of the Graphic 45 collections and mix them up.

I love doing boy's layouts using Graphic 45, the colours are perfect for any layout. For this one I used Graphic 45's "Steampunk Collection".

Some of My Favorite Altered Art or Off the Page Projects.
This form of scrapbooking is a favorite of mine. I love mini projects or altered art projects. Anything that is out side the square! Here are some of my favorites.
A set of altered art tags, which I hinged together to make a mini book. The Graphic 45 8x8 pads are perfect for these kind of projects as the prints are smaller.
This was another blog hop, this time with May Arts Ribbons. I used the back of a canvas and lots of Graphic 45 print papers - in fact 9 sheets.
This is another favorite project I did for Diane's Birthday. I am doing this project for a Scrapbooking Magazine in Australia. Each month they are putting a section of the Patchwork Piece in the magazine. It will take 10-12 months to do this project as you need to have 100 decorated squares. I am selling kits for this project if anyone wants to have a go.
Another Blog hop, this was a calendar for Petaloo using Graphic 45's Tropical Travelogue" papers.
Again another project outside the square. This was a hat I made out of  Papers from "Once upon a Springtime" It was a blog hop with 3L.
I love mini off the page projects and this was one I did on Diane.
Another Mini Project, this one was for Josh.
Some of My Favorite Books.
This is a book I made for Graphic 45, it was published in USA and I still get emails from people who had seen this book and love it.
One of the pages from the book. This is a page using "On the Boardwalk" Collection.
Another page from the book using a selection from Graphic 45 papers.
This was another book, this time I made a box for it to go in. It is a pop up book and was published in the USA.

Once of my pages from my Pop up Book using "Once upon a Springtime".
Another page from my Pop up Book. This one is using "Steampunk".
This is another book, with pop up elements. I used papers from the "Magic of Oz" It is a affirmation Book with quotes and photos.
The first page of my book. For this book I used papers from the  "Magic of Oz" collection.
Another page using one of my favorite papers from "Magic of Oz.
There were so many more projects I would loved to have shared with you, but this post is already long enough.  I love Graphic 45 and use it for nearly every project I make. I love all styles of scrapbooking and Graphic 45 have so many wonderful print papers to choose from, there is alway one to match every project.
Good luck to everyone who has entered the Graphic 45 Design Team Call for 2012.
Wish me luck!

Leaving San Francisco for Salt Lake City

Josh and I are at the airport waiting for a fight to Salt Lake City. The screen has just put the weather at Salt Lake as -2. Looks like being a bit cold! We may need to borrow a fur coat or two. Took Josh to Alcatraz for the morning. Then had lunch at a place over looking the fur seals at pier 39. There were lots of them and they were very noisy. It was like watching a big group of kids. Some wouldn't share there floating space and would bully any other seal that tried to get on. Others would clamber all over the others to get to the water. We had a great time here and are looking forward to spending 4 days with Diane at Salt Lake City and some snow!
Just called our flight so got to go.
catch you all soon

Finally Posting in the USA

Finally got some time to post. Josh and I are now in San Franciso. We both arrived in LA on Friday last week. We did a class with Tim Holtz on the Saturday. It was a four hour class with ranger and Tim was one of the three teachers. We both had a great time and Tim was great letting us have our photo taken with him. Sunday was the first day of the show.
It was a big thrill to see my birthday gift I had done for Diane at the show. It was featured on the back wall of the booth. I spent the day wandering around the show spending shop money on lots of new and beautiful papers and embelishments. I even found a gentleman who had some clock charms which he had in his warehouse for over 25 years. I got all 300 of them! So excited as I have a special project planned for them.
Monday was my day for a demo on Graphic 45's booth. I had a wonderful time and met lots of lovely ladies from all over the states and overseas. Everyone was so friendly and I had a great time. I could have spent all day doing the demo, it was so much fun. Monday night Graphic 45 took those from the design team at CHA out out for dinner. We all enjoyed meeting each other for the first time and catching up with old friends (Gloria and I met last year) Special thanks to the Graphic 45 team, who looked after us so well.

On Tuesday Josh and I spent the day at Disney, we spent a great day doing rides. This one is Josh on the mad hatters tea party ride. We both got into a tea cup which spins around. Josh made it go faster by turning a wheel in the middle of the cup, he was having great fun at my expense! We were able to spent all day there and even got to watch the evening parade which was amazing.
Will post again tomorrow as the internet is playing up and it is way past my bed time.
thanks for looking
