USA. CHA and Grapic 45 - Here I Come

Starting to get excited, it is now only 5 sleeps until Josh and I fly off again to the states. I am attending CHA again as well as doing so sight seeing. This time I will be traveling with my son. This year Graphic 45 asked the design team if any of us wanted to demonstrated at CHA. I put my hand up straight away. What an honor - Tim Hotz, Heidi Swap, Terese Collins and other Scrapbooking Super Stars demo at CHA, not the Jane Tregenza's from Adelaide! But this year I have a 2 hour gig demoing Pop up elements on Cards and Pages. I hope its ok to share a sneak peek here!

I have also had to get a heap of projects ready to take with me and I have just loved the two new collections I received. Little Darlings is the prettiest baby collection I have ever seen and Olde curiiosity Shopp is already my all time favorite. Due to time constraints Diane from Graphic 45 could only send the design team one of each print paper and as they are double sided the delemar has been, which side to use and how to get as many projects out of the papers as possible. I photocopied mine onto white A3 paper and made mock layouts so I could plan it down to the last scrap. We were asked to do a layout in each of the collections. But as I am also teaching in Brisbane at the expo (June longweek end), and want to use the olde cruiostiy shoppe for my classes. The projects have to be ready by the 10th Feb but I will still be in the States. This means the projects have to be done this week and photographed before I leave. This has meant my papers from Diane have had to be stretched to cover 2 layouts for CHA, 2 layouts for the expo, 1 altered art project for CHA, 1 patchwork pieces project for the expo 1 popup card for CHA and a tag for CHA. Needless to say, I have nothing left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I have also done some projects using little darlings and the tropical travelogue. I hope to share some of these projects once I am back from the states.

So back to work, I have every project started but none finished. Everything just needs those finishing touches and some Imaginarium Designs Chipboard.

Graphic 45 sent all the design team samples of the papers for us to create projects for CHA, so I have this collection in my little hot hands as I speak and I can say that it is the most beautiful baby collection I have ever seen!

Honoured to be on a Japan Scrapbooking Site

When Naomi contacted me from "page of my Book" and asked be to be one of their Guest Designers for January I was delighted to accept. I love how our craft/art is international and able to speak any languages.Each month this site puts up a "page" and it is entirely up to you as to how you interpret it. This months challenge was the word "PLACE". As soon as I saw what the word was I knew exactly which place I wanted to share.

This is their page and word for this month.

I was able to visit the States this year for CHA and afterwards went to San Francisco. I spent one day visiting Alcatraz prison. It was a very moving experience and one I will never forget. I was standing in the D block of the prison where the detention cells were. The way the prison is built means the prisoners don’t have windows to see out of. The island Alcatraz is built on is not far away from San Francisco and the prisoners although they could not see, could hear the sounds of people and music from the piers on a quiet evening. The photo captures the feeling of being shut in and looking out. The View from the window was beautiful and restful. Quite a contrast to the feeling you had inside the prison. I have used spinners to make a compass pointing to the title words. “Alcatraz one significant Place” I added lots of metal embellishments and chipboard from Imaginarium Designs. The papers are all from Graphic 45’s new Tropical Travelogue. For the word “place” I have used the new sticker sheets from Graphic 45 with some glossy accents on top.

For the clock, I removed the middle of it so I only had the frame and no numbers. This is one of Imaginarium Designs new releases. I inked it with Vintage Photo distress ink and then stamped it with a fine writing stamp and embossed with distress embossing powder from Tim Holz, I using vintage photo. Once it was cold I rubbed at the embossing until I had an old look to it. It is a bit hard to see in the photo. The key hole is one of Tim's sizzix die and embossed with the distress vintage photo, but this time you need to do it all over.

PS It has been very hot in Adelaide this week, with the temp today getting to 41C that is about 110F last night it didn't get below 24C. Can't really do too much as we don't have air con, just a wet tea towel around the neck and ceiling fans. Bit of a cool change due in a day or two.

Petaloo kindly sent us Girls at Graphic 45 an amazing bunch of flowers to play with. I loved the flowers, as they were made of cotton and had a vintage look to them. Charee had the wonderful idea that we should all make a Perpetual calendar.

The idea of a Perpetual Calendar has always intrigued me. In days of old the news readers on the radio would always tell you the day and date. Now days we use a computer or a diary. For me a diary is a waste of time as I can never find the blessed thing. The computer is not much better as I have to have it on. So I think this will have to have a place of importance on my desk. The problem will be remembering to change it each day.

I wasn’t sure were to start with this project so I asked my son Josh (from Imaginarium Designs) to design a perpetual Calendar for me from chipboard. I love what he has come up with.

It is a box, hinged at the bottom, with compartments for the date cubes to sit in. There is another box for the months. Inside the box is room for all the cubes and a note book. He made the top of the box to fit the new chipboard shapes from Graphic 45 and added a wrought iron looking top to it.

The closure is a Graphic 45 Stamped Geometric metal tag folded in half. I attached it to the front of the box and punched a hole in the top of the box. I have used a Graphic 45 metal button for a pin, which you when you pull the pin out the lid drops down and you can use the note book inside and get to the extra cubes. I used Graphic 45 Staples metal buttons for feet.

Josh has made a wheel that you can change each day to show the day.

The new papers from Graphic 45’s travelogue range was a perfect match for all the wonderful flowers Petaloo sent me. I had over 10 packets of flowers to choose from The flowers are made of cotton, so they are quite thick. This meant I was able to stamp a text stamp with distress ink on the leaves. I added some glitter to the edges of the petals then sprayed the flowers with Memories Mists Iridescent spray. This has given them a lovely shimmer and deepened the colours.

I wish you could see the flowers in real life as they look amazing. I love the earthy tones and the fact they are made of heavy paper. They work so well with the new papers from Graphic 45 and had added a lovely touch to the front of the calendar.

As soon as I saw the ABC Primer range from Graphic 45 it became one of my favourites. I think its the strong colours and images that appeals the most, and the Calico Kids print paper is one of my top 10 Graphic 45 favourites. I decided to do a layout using one of Kate’s school photos. I love using frames on my layouts, so with this layout I have used the printed papers to create a frame around my page. I have included a step by step for this project so have a go at making one for yourself.

1. Remove the middle from the Building Blocks print paper. Make sure you leave the black edge on the frame on the inside as wide as you can, without cutting into the alpha blocks. This will give you a frame to use on our page and some alpha blocks to use on another project.

2. Cut your red Bazzill to 10 3/8 inches x 10 3/8 inches. Do not attach to the frame yet. Don’t forget to ink it.

3. Cut your Calico kids back to 9 ¾ inches x 9 ¾ inches. This will remove three squares along one side and at the top. Make sure you check that you are not cutting through any of the pattered squares before cutting. You should have a nice amount of black showing all the way around. You may need to adjust the 9 ¾ inches to make it work. Ink around the edges.

4. Adhere it to the red Bazzill in the middle, making sure you have the same amount showing all the way around.

5. You can now attach it to your frame with a little bit of tape. Once you have lined it up and are happy with it. Carefully turn it over and add more tape over the join on the back.

6. Cut One two Buckle my shoe to 8 3/16 inches x 8 3/16 inches. Ink all round the edges. Attach it to your page in the middle. It should fit with one of the squares of Calico Kids showing all the way around.

7. Now it’s time for to work on your tag. You will need to cut the mats for your photo first. Use the red bazzill and cut it to 5 inches x 7 inches. From your left over paper cut your tag. It needs to be 3 1/8 inch x 5 1/8 inches. Ink around the edges. Cut your next photo mat. Use the black Bazzill and cut it to 4 ¾ inches x 6 ¾ inches. With the left over black pieces cut your tag to 2 3/4 inches x 4 3/4 inches. Adhere it to your red Bazzill. From the left over piece of One two buckle my shoe cut a piece 2 ½ inch x 4 ½ inch and ink around the edges. You can adhere this to your tag as well.

8. Now you can add some of the other bits and pieces to your tag. Add a piece of stripe paper ¾ inch high and 3 ½ inches long (this in on the back of Calico Kids). It is wider than the tag, you need to adhere it about ½ inch down from the top and wrap the ends of the stripe around to the back of the tag. Next cut a piece from your left over Calico kids print paper. It needs to be three blocks long and one blog high. Attach two blocks onto the bottom right corner of your tag and wrap the third block around to the back of the tag. Add the narrow stripe ribbon to the middle of the print and wrap the end to the back of your tag.

9. Add the square in your kit with the image on it. Place it on your tag on an angle and with 1/3 hanging off the tag on the right side. Trim the bit hanging off your tag. From your left over bits of buckle my shoe, see if you have an equation that matches the age of your child. Wrap the check ribbon from the back to the front and tie a knot in it. Add two micro brads to the top corner of your equation. Add it to your tag with foam tape, as show in the photo.

Now attach your finished tag to a sprayed or inked black, tag backing board.

10. Add your photo to your black mat and then adhere it to your red mat. Adhere to your page on an angle and to the right of your layout.

11. Add your gates to your layout using the hinges and brads to hold the gate to the page. You don’t need to glue them down in the middle.

12. Adhere your tag to your black chipboard tag and tuck it under the photo and gate. When happy with its position adhere it to your page.

13. From your sheet of Grammar School cut out enough letters to spell your child’s name. Use some of your left over red Bazzill and cut it to 1+ 1/4 inch by 1+ 5/8 inch squares to mat your letters with.

14. If you have a chipboard number then ink it and glue it to the middle of your Penny farthing bike. Add it to your tag over lapping the gate, use foam mounting tape.

15. You can now add your letters overlap them along the gate.

16. On the tag you can add your journaling and date.

A Mini Christmas Tag Book

Here is a little project I did for Graphic 45 with Christmas touch! Graphic 45 had a Christmas tag challenge this month and it inspired me to do some tags as well. These would work as singles or even Christmas decorations. I decided to join mine together to make a mini book. The 4 tags are from Imaginarim Designs and joined together with black bazzill. They are 3 inches wide x 4 1/2 inches high. I cover the font and back of each tag with the lovely new papers from Graphic 45's Christmas Emporium range. These are my favorite Xmas Papers. I love the wonderful colours and the lovely vintage images. The prints are perfect for mini projects as well at 12x12 layouts.

For the front tag I used Happy Holidays, with a square cut from Special Delivery with the words Christmas Greetings on it. I used circle punches to punch out 5 circles from different three prints. This is to make the baubles. I used Christmas Emporium, Special Delivery and Holly and Ivy. You fold the circles in half and glue them together. I used ric rac to "hang" the baubles on the front of the tag. I added bows and another ribbon at the bottom. I used a frame from Imaginarium Designs inked black and then stamped with a script stamp and embossed with gold embossing powder. I chose a word from Joyous Noel and glued it behind the frame. I attached it at the top of the tag. I know the baubles have been around for a while but I only saw them a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with them.

For this tag I used an image from Happy Holidays. I used 3 of the same print to cut out bits of it and layered them with foam tape. It gives the image a 3D effect. I added a large button at the top and some ribbons.

For this tag I used Joyous Noel for the background. I added some Special Delivery and red bazzill. Another button and a tag from the Christmas Emporium chipboard sheets. I added a holly flourish from Imaginarium Designs. I found some flowers, a word token and crystals to finish it off.

For the last tag I decided to do something special. I used Holly and Ivy for the tag back. A square of Christmas Carol over the top with a square of Christmas Emporium layered on top of that. I used another holly flourish from Imaginarium Designs with some German Scrap. I cut holly shapes cut from Special Delivery. I used a flower from Graphic 45's staples range which I bent and shaped. The bell in the middle adds a nice Christmas's touch. Another large button with a Graphic chipboard shape in the middle and a Maya Road bingo number on top of that. I added a glass hat pin as well.

My May Arts & Graphic 45 Project

Here is my project for the May Arts ribbon and Graphic 45 Blog hop. I decided to do a frame, so that my ribbon would be on the outside and become a feature. In a precious life I did paper tole for 12 years. I was even selling to David Jones Australia wide. They were buying Peter Rabbit paper tole framed pictures and selling them in their baby department. I love the images on Graphic 45's new Christmas papers. The Christmas Emporium print with the children looking in at the window is priceless. I decide to do a paper tole picture using this print. This means I need 6-7 prints of the same paper.

When I start designing, I normally know whether it will be a layout or an off the page project but I don't always have an idea of what the finished piece will look like. I tend to lay all the papers and embellishments in front of me and just start cutting. But as I knew it was going to be a paper tole piece, I knew it would have to go into a shadow box frame.

Last year on someones blog I saw the idea to use the back of a canvas. So whoever you are thanks very much! I sprayed mine black with spray paint, just in case some of the white shows.

The first layer needed to be the children in the background. I used two prints to do them. I always like to add another head on people and of course the little hand up against the window needed to go on again. I used a lot of foam tape to create a space between the children layer and the room layer and to support the acetate sheet (window).
The next layer was the room with the window removed and the floor bent up.

I cut four pieces of print paper the depth of the frame and the width of the frame with mitred corners and folded and glued them to cover the inside and outside of the canvas.

Then the fun starts. Each layer needs to be added. Father Christmas needs to be built up. He is sitting on his sack. I added another head, then the hand holding the feather. The hand and book also when on again, along with the journal on this lap

The Christmas tree was done in two layers but lots of pieces. I added stickels to give it a sparkling look as well as a glow to all the candles.

Once the Tree was done I started working on all the toys underneath it and around it.

I used one of the Prima vines and added some Green Tara flowers to make it more christmasy.

Then it was time to work on my flower. I cut May Arts ribbon into 25cm lengths and folded them in half. At the fold end I got a lenth of thread and wrapped it around and around to form a point. At the cut ends I ran a gathering thread and pulled it up tight. They kinda look like pointsettas, don't they.

Using some more May Arts ribbon I did loops of greeny gold ribbon and added it over the top of the pointsetta petals. I am loving the metal flowers from Graphic 45 so I used one for the center of my flower with one of their brads.

May Arts also sent me some Velvet ric rac which I used on the inside of the frame to finish it off. I also cut lots of the holly shapes from the print paper and folded them and glued them in at the top of the picture. The frame is from Imaginarium Designs sprayed black and it really finished off the project.

It looks like a lot of work but it only took me 4-5 hours.

Hi eveyone.
Australian Scrapbook Ideas ask me to do a feature for their October Magazine. They asked for three layouts with a Paris theme. I hope to visit Paris one day but as yet have not made it. So it was a case of asking friends for their holiday photos. Graphic 45 are featuring my work on their blog along with some photos of the Graphic 45 Ladies trip to Paris early this year. I love this layout of the Eiffel tower. I love using lots of layers on my work. I like to think that each time you look at it you find something else. As it has lots of layers and elements you need to be careful when following my instructions. I always measure twice and cut once!
Just Paris

1 - Cut your cream bazzill to 27.5cm x 27.5cm and tape it to the middle of your “Curtain Call” print paper.
2 - Cut your black Bazzill to 25.5 cm x 25.5 cm and adhere it to the middle of your cream Bazzill. 3 - Cut Postage print paper to 24.5cm x 24.5 and adhere it to your black Bazzill with photo corners.
4 - You need to cut two elements from “the Cinema” print paper. The first one is the film strip with the images on it. Cut it the whole length and then trim it back to 24cm long and mat it with black Bazzill. Cut a narrow piece of black Bazzill 4cm wide and tape it on top of the film images. Add gold sticky ribbon to the middle of the black Bazzill and in the middle. Once you have cut out this piece, cut the film strip with numbers on it, you will need to use both pieces. Mat the two pieces with black Bazzill.
5 - From the sheet you will need to cut the image with the couple with the man with a sword, leaving some of the black edge on it. Cut a piece of cream Bazzill 7.5 cm x 15cm. Mat this piece with black Bazzill. Add the image of the couple to the middle of the cream Bazzill. Cut a small piece of the print paper to 2.5cm wide and 10cm long. Back tear along one edge of it, along the long side and ink. Attach it to the bottom of the image piece and wrap edges around to the back. Add black ribbon over the top and wrap a piece of organza ribbon and tie it to the front with a knot to the right side of the piece.
6 - Cut a piece of yours truly to 5cm x 9cm and adhere it over the top of the couple using black photo corners.
7 - Ink Paris title and Eiffel tower with black ink. Place Eiffel tower on to cream cardstock and draw around it and cut out the shape. It needs to be a little bit bigger than the chipboard shape. Glue the two together and attach it to the red print with foam tape as shown. Add clock to the middle of Eiffel Tower.
For the rest of the page:
1 - You need to adhere your print paper stripe with gold sticky ribbon to the bottom of your print paper; it needs to be about 4cm up from the bottom of the print. Place two pieces of film strip with numbers on an angle running from the top of your page to the bottom attach them to each other. Once happy with the angle you can tape them down.
2 - You can add your rectangle with the Eiffel tower to your page using foam tape. Use the photo of the layout for a guide for placing it.
3 - Cut three Eiffel tower stamps from your Tour de France print paper and mat them with black Bazzill. Adhere them on top of the number film strip at the top of your page. The left and right one go on with tape but use foam tape on the middle one.
4 - Punch a circle of black Bazzill and adhere your bottle cap disk on to it. Push it onto the memo pin. Tie a piece of organza ribbon to pin and insert into the foam tape at the top of your rectangle piece with the Eiffel tower.
5 - Check that your matted photo will fit and adhere it to your page using photo corners.
6 - Add title and brads to finish.
Tip Use photo corners on your work to give it a classic look. Use lots of elements to add interest and layer elements using foam tape to add dimension.

Snap Shots of Paris
For this layout I ask my "Friday fortnight friend" Debs for some of her photos. She had just returned and had 100's of photos. This meant I had lot of photos of Paris to play with. I decide to do a whole layout using as many photos as I could. I love this print paper “Moulin Rouge” from Graphic 45’s Curtain Call I decided to use it as the background paper for my layout.

I printed all the photos in a small size and cut them to fit the stamps which were printed on the paper. I had beautiful Eiffel tower chipboard from Imaginarium designs and used it as the centre of my layout. The page came together really well and shows 20 snap shots of Paris
1 - Using Graphic 45’s Moulin Rouge as your base. Work out how many of the squares you want to cover. I left 4 squares uncovered without any photos. Cut the photos to 2.5cm x 3.6cm, + four photos 2.8 x2.8 cm for the corners. Lay your photos on the squares and move them around until you are happy with the layout. Once happy adhere them to the page.
2 - Cut your black Bazzill to 22.1 cm x 22.1 cm and tape it to the middle of your print paper. It should fit nicely inside the square. Cut your cream bazzill to 21.5cm x 21.5cm place tape in the middle of the paper and adhere it to your black Bazzill. Don’t tape down the sides as you will need to wrap ribbon around the edges later on. Add photo corners to the cream corners and stick them down.
3 - Cut your Tour de France print paper to 15cm x 19cm with the stripes running down. Ink around the edges and adhere it to your cream Bazzill with the same amount of space at the top and bottom and 1cm in from the right side of the cream bazzill. Add a piece of black stitched ribbon across the top of the stripe and wrap it around to the back of the cream on the right side of the page.
4 - Cut your Paris Post print paper to 9cm x 20.5cm and adhere it to the cream Bazzill over the top of the stripe and ribbon. It needs to go 1 cm in on the cream from the left side with the same amount of space at the top and bottom. . Add black brads to each corner.
5 - Add some sticky ribbon across the page over the top of both print papers and wrap it around the back of the cream on both sides. Use the photo as a guide as to where to place it.
Cut the Eiffel tower print from your tour de France paper and mat it with black Bazzill. Add four photo corners and attach to the page as shown (above).
Ink Eiffel tower and Paris title in black. Paint the miniature title and Edward ornament with a silver paint dabber. (use the photo below as a guide)

1 - I used some alphas, which I inked with vintage photo distress ink and stamped with a French writing stamp and black ink over the top.
2 - Push out the circle letters from the Domestic Goddess to spell “snap” and place an epoxy dot over the top.
3 - Once the silver paint is dry, glue the tinies Paris title onto the black title.
Tie a ribbon through the “wander” disk and glue it to the middle of the painted Edward ornament.
4 - Place all the titles and the Eiffel tower to your page and check that all the elements fit. Once you are happy, glue the Eiffel tower down to your page and glue the silver element to the Eiffel tower. Glue title and words to your layout.

The Paris Opera House.

For this layout I ask my special Friend Meg for some of her photos. Her husband Dave took the photos. Once I had copies of his photos and saw this one I was captivated. I love this photo, it shows the glorious rich colours and the opulence of opera house, which was part of the great reconstruction of Paris during the second Empire initiated by Emperor Napoleon III . The Opera house was started in 1861 with the laying of a foundation stone. Legend is that the Emperor’s wife Eugenie asked the architect whether the building would be built in the Greek or Roman style to which her replied “It is in the Napoleon III style, Madame. It was the setting for Gaston Leroux’s famous novel “the Phantom of the Opera” written in 1910. Andrew Lloyd Webber used it as a guide for the sets of his movie based on Leroux’s book. I decided to keep the layout simple as the photo is so beautiful. I printed the photo twice in different sizes and placed them on top of each other to make them the focus of my layout.

1 - Use a 12x12 black bazzil as base for the layout.
2 - Cut a piece of cardboard to 11 ¼ x 11 ¼
3 - Cut your print paper to 11 ½ x 11 ½ and ink around the edges. Tape the cardboard piece to the back of the print paper. This will raise your print paper up a bit from the black Bazzill.
4 - Mat your two photos with black Bazzill. Add more cardboard to the smaller photo on the back and add foam tape to the cardboard. This will raise the smaller photo up when it is placed on the larger photo. Now you can stick your smaller matted photo on top of the larger photo.
5 - Cut the Ephemera extraordinaire to 6 ¼ x 8 ¼ and cut a black mat 6 ¾ x 8 ¾ adhere the black mat to the back of the print paper. Adhere your layered photo in the middle of the print paper. Don’t stick it to your page just yet.
6 - Ink one of the “Paris” titles, “opera house” titles , the word “the” and all four corners with black ink.
7 - The second “Paris” title needs to be inked lightly with Vintage photo. I used a sponging block to add the ink to the chipboard rather than applying the ink direct from the ink pad to the chipboard. This helps me control the amount of ink I apply, meaning I can lightly ink the chipboard. Make sure you dry the inked title with a heat gun before embossing it. This is important as the gold powder will adhere to the whole title rather than just the stamped embossed part of the title. To finish the title I added some old French writing with gold embossed powder on top. To do this, choose a stamp with French writing or any kind of writing and use an embossing ink pad. Place the stamped title into some gold embossing powder and heat with a heat gun.
Once cold, glue the gold embossed title on top of the black one. Make sure they don’t line up as you want the black title to show underneath.
7 - The second “Opera House” title needs to be totally inked with embossing ink and placed in gold embossing powder. Heat and melt the powder, once it is melted and while it is hot place it back into the power and reheat. Keep repeating this until the title is built up and has a thick smooth gold finished. Glue the finished gold title to the matching black title – off set it and make sure the black title is showing underneath.
10 - You can place all the elements on the page and check that they will fit. Start by gluing the corners onto the page. Add a gold brad in the corners and through all the layers of the layout. Add the title at the top of the page. The photo can go on next. The Opera House title goes on last as it has to go over the photos and corners.

So much News!

Where to start. I have just book flights to LA for CHA for next. I got up at 2.30am Tuesday morning and managed to book into two Tim Holtz classes during CHA. I was so excited that I couldn't go back to sleep. Now the count down begins and the panic, as I work out what I have to do before I leave. My lovely son Josh will be traveling with me this time and I am thrilled to have him with me. For some other news.

On the Graphic 45 blog one of my projects is being shown today.

I love the new boxes and tin from Graphic 45. I have always had a fascination for boxes with things inside. I think it’s the surprise element of not knowing what’s inside that gets me every time. I also have lots of children, 5 in fact, one with a disability and one with learning difficulties which she has inherited from me!. So when I saw the tin with the album inside I decided to make an educational game which will help children with fractions or fractious fractions as I call them.
For the outside of the tin I used an image from Bedtime Stories which I adhered to one of chipboard album circles. I inked a black clock from Imaginarium Designs and glued it to the lid. I added ribbon to the rim of the lid. A strip of the alphabet from Building Blocks adhered to the rim of the bottom of the tin finished it off nicely.
I used the album circles as a template to cut circles out of chipboard. I covered each chipboard circle with pattered papers from the new” An ABC Primer range from Graphic 45. I then worked out which one I wanted to cut in half, quarters, eights and sixteenths. I cut the cardboard album in the tin into circles to use as a base for each fraction set. Graphic 45 now has stamps to match each collection. I stamped images onto the chipboard album circles first. I printed prompts onto cardstock and using the printed cardboard circle from the lid as a template, cut them out and adhered them to the cardboard album circles. I always ink my papers to get rid of the white cut edge. I am loving the new line of ink pads from Graphic 45. They work wonderfully with a sponging block, so I will have to do a tutorial on using them next time.
So now when teaching fractions your child can see how it all fits together. You could make some cards with fractions sums on them for your child to work out like ½ + ¼ + 1/8 + 2/16 = 1
When I teach I used inches. In Australia we use metric so some of my students struggle with the 8ths of an inch or 16ths of an inch measurements. I think I will have to loan out my tin to some students to play with!

A Layout for Josh

Graphic 45 and Colorcore sent me a big box full of goodies earlier this year and I have been waiting for our blog hop with Colorcore. They sent me a a whole pad of cardstock, made by Core’dinations as part of their Signature Series for Graphic 45. I now no longer need to choose my cardstock as the whole pad of plain paper matches Graphic 45 Print papers beautifully. I also received from Graphic 45 and Core’dinations a pack of their Core Impressions: Graphic 45 Timeless collection, this is an embossed pad with lots of lovely papers to go hand in hand with Graphic 45. Where to start? I decided to do a layout for my son Josh using papers from the “Proper Gentleman” Collection. I chose two print papers “Man about Town” and “The Sophisticate” and chose cardstock from the Graphic 45 cardstock pack to match. I found the red and black cardstock looked the best. From the pack of Core Impressions I chose the “Cream of Wheat” embossed cardstock.

Normally everyone sands this kind of cardstock but I didn’t want the distressed look to my page so I inked it using a sponging block and Graphic 45’s new ink pads from Color box. I found the colour “decades” worked well, you just tap the sponging block on the ink pad and gently rub over the cardstock until the desired colour is reached. I always work in from a side before inking in the middle, this dumps most of the ink on the edge where I want it to be darker rather an in the middle. I matted the finished cardstock on black to set it off.
I love the metal door plate and matching knob set that Graphic 45 have as part of their staples collection. I decided to use one on my layout as a representation of Josh moving from school to the work force. It also was perfect for adding the journaling.

I love all the colours in this layout and the way they set the photo off. I don’t like a lot of fuss on my layouts and doing male layouts is always hard. I used some of Imaginarium Designs Corners to finish the page. These corners are ones that Josh himself designed so it was nice to add them to a layout on him.

Graphic 45's New Collection

Hi Everyone

Have you been keeping up with the news on Graphic 45's blog of late. They have been showing off their new collection called "Tropical Travelogue".

Their sticker sheets look amazing and I can't wait to play with this lovely new range.

Today I am featured on Graphic 45's blog. I made Diane a present for her Birthday and sent photos of it to Graphic 45. I still have it here in Australia as I need to do some more work on it before sending it to her.

It is made up of 144 squares of which 40 are photos. The whole piece is about 19inches by 19 inches. I used lots of Imaginarium Designs chipboard. They will be releasing the mini's next month and I will let you know when. The Eiffel tower and dress form is part of the new collection.

Two Layouts for Graphic 45

Hi Everyone
Hope Life is treating you well. Another busy month, with another big catering job this weekend. I am a Christadelphian and this weekend we have a big get together. It is my job along with a big group of wonderful helpers to cook a hot meal for the Sunday Lunch. Which is great until I tell you how many I have to cook for! 1400 jacket potatoes with the fillings. So 50kg of bacon later and over 16kg of cheese, 20lt sour cream not to mention, pineapple, beetroot, corn, and coleslaw. I love the challenge of making it all happen. Which I couldn't do without all the people who pitch in and help. But back to Graphic 45. I did a couple of layouts for them this month. This one is for Josh. I will share the second one next week, when I have more time.
The Magic of Oz Collection is wonderful. It works so well on all levels, whether it’s layouts or mini projects. This time I used it for a page on my son. As soon as I saw the Scatterbrained Scarecrow I wanted to use it on a layout. I had some photos of Josh taken when he was 12 years old. He decided to have a veggie garden, so he spent the day digging up a patch of our back yard. By the end of the day he was over it. It took Malcolm one whole Saturday morning to fill it all in. I used a sheet of Yellow Brick Road for the base of my layout mounted on black cardstock. I cut a frame from Domestic Goddess- Happy Homemaker. I added black brads in the middle of each flower on the border and worked the rest of my page with the frame. I cut the scarecrow images from Scatterbrained Scarecrow and used foam tape to build them up. I cut the pipe frame as well. The round scarecrow piece came from an 8x8 Magic of Oz pad as the image on the 12x12 paper was too large. I added another square in middle of my layout mated with black bazzill and photos. To finish my page I added corners and a title from Imaginarium Designs. The title was inked with a mixture of inks to get the right colour and sprayed with Iridescent spray to give it a shimmer. I even managed to do some journaling as well!

Something Different

Graphic 45 are having a blog hop with Scrapbooking Adhesive. Seriously Scrapbooking are holding a Girls Night In to raise money for Women's Cancer. The first night is booked out and they are holding a second night. Over 50 women will be attending! Each one has been asked to wear a hat or fasinator. I decide to make my own hat using Graphic 45 paper and Scrapbooking Adhesive products. I am not a hat maker and I now know why hats are made of fabric! The Scrapbook Adhesive tape runner was magic for this project. I couldn’t use glue as it would be too wet and take too long to dry, also it would stretch the paper. The tape runner just made the job so much easier.

I cut a large circle out of the paper and made small pleats in it around the edge using the runner to tape them together.
I cut a strip of cardboard to fit around my head and taped the circle inside the crown.
I cut a brim out of a piece of paper and added some pleats in the brim to make it interesting.
The tape runner came with a custom panel in the side of it so you can put in a photo. I put in some of my favorite Graphic 45 paper. I used the piece of paper I took out to use as a template. I cut three dark pieces and three light ones out of the print paper . Use a paint brush and tightly wrap the first petal around the end of a brush.

Spray around the top of the dark petal with water and fold it. Add some tape to the bottom middle of your petal and add to the first petal. Add another dark petal to make the middle of your rose. Once you have four dark petals, you can start adding pale petals. Put some tape halfway down the middle of the petal and each side of the bottom of the petal and wrap it around the last one. Keep repeating until your rose is big enough. You will need to pinch the petals to help them fit. Don’t worry if they tear as you can touch them up with a bit of ink.
When finished your rose should look something like this! You could keep adding more petals to make your rose bigger if you want to. I made three roses and added them to my hat. I tucked some organza ribbon in green to lift the roses and to hide the end of the roses. I added two peacock feathers from Imaginarium Designs sprayed black and a hat pin to finish it off.
I couldn't’t have made this hat without the tape runner from Scrapbook adhesives. It made the job so much easier and the finished project neater. If I had used glue it would have been everywhere! The tape seem to have lasted forever and I only ran out right at the end.
I will post some photos of the Girls Night In with me wearing my Hat.

So far Nicole and Tara have had their projects feature on the Graphic 45 Blog and their work is jaw dropping good. I am not sure when mine will be featured but I will let you know, you are all in for a bit of a surprise!
I received a box today from Scrapbooking and Beyond, they have returned my book and a copy of their fall magazine in which they featured my "Moments I want to remember". I will post some photos of it for you all in a day or two.

I am busy at the moment finishing off some work for Graphic 45 and some projects for publication but I will let you know more about that later.

I was disapointed with how mine photographed. I cut a hole in the middle of my bag so as you filled it, you could see how many sweeties (candy) was in the bag! I used lots of chipboard from Imaginarium Designs. I love the house on top of the Witch, don't forget to leave a comment to win.

Graphic 45 and Fiskar are having a blog hop and the Graphic 45 design team have been posting projects using Fiskar products on the blog all week. Please visit Graphic 45's blog and Fiskars and see the wonderful projects been showcased. Today it was my turn along with two of the other wonderful ladies on Graphic 45's team. I decided to do a layout using "once upon a Springtime" papers. I love this collection, the colours are so soft and delicate.
I was wrapped to receive from Fiskar’s some of their punches for a blog hop. I am a big fan and love the border punches. They kindly send me two borders and a squeeze punch. The squeeze punch was in the shape of a postage stamp. Perfect for me as I love stamps.
First I used the ribbon threading punch, I punched a strip of paper 12 inches long and threaded some apricot satin ribbon through it. It was so easy to do.
I got a bit carried away and ended up with two more punched border pieces. The punches work so well and are easy to line up, allowing you to create a continues line of bordered edges on your papers. I love the way using border punches allow you to add lots of detail to your layouts without bulking the page out too much.
I used Enchanted Forest for the base of my layout. I layered all the punched strips on the page. I added more ribbons to hide any joins.
I love the “once upon a springtime frames” . I matted one of the big frames on some cardstock and over the top of my photo. I added a heart topped chipboard fence from Imaginarium designs.
Another frame to the right of the layout balanced it nicely. I added some Prima pearls to create a flight path for the butterflies!
The smaller frame gave me a foundation to build all the other elements on. I added a large chipboard Butterfly with some flowers. I love these butterflies from Imaginarium Designs. They are so tiny and delicate. I used a square from “Enchanted Forest” for a journaling block. I used the photo squeeze punch from Fiskar for my title squares. It nearly fitted the” tiny treasures” postage squares printed on the paper perfectly. I added smaller square of pink “Spellbound” in the middle and some chipboard alphas to spell Anna’s name.
This is one of my favourite photo of Anna. It takes me back many years. At nine months old she could just hold her head up and roll over. My husband took this photo of her and it reminds me of how tiny she was and how clever she thought she was at the time. She has grown into a lovely woman and a much love and valued member of our family. Life would not be the same without her.

Graphic 45 has just announced their Halloween Rejuvenaiton Challenge! Here is what they had to say about the challenge.

Halloween is not realy big in Australia, but is catching on!

Sorry for not posting but I have been so busy doing Graphic 45 projects for the blog and classes at Seriously Scrapbooking. In regards to my book I will be teaching here on my blog, I can tell you at this stage the first page will be using the new primer range. I hope over the weekend to finish the page and post a list of materials you will need to have on hand to make the page.

I am featured on the Graphic 45 blog today, so pop over there for a tutorial by me. I hope to post the project and tutorial on my blog tomorrow.

I am Featured on Graphic 45 today

Have you checked out the Graphic 45 Blog today, three of the design team members have layouts using the Magic of Oz line of papers featured and one is mine. This was a layout I did for CHA in July. I fell in love with the strong colours of Magic of Oz as soon as I saw it. The paper Emerald City was a favorite straight away. As soon as I saw it, I wanted to make a frame from the paper. It was the tab shape in the top left and bottom two corners which gave me the clue. I cut the frame from two sheets as I needed the left and bottom piece twice to make one frame. I didn't want the corner of the balloon or the clock to show on my frame so I had to join the two pieces together to make one frame. It is hard to see in my photos but the frame is folded and raised up to make a box. You need to look photo of the paper carefully to see where I cut it. I cut along the emeralds, under this line there is a light print green strip and then a strip of light green and dark green. I cut all four strips together to give me a wide frame. I cut the corners around the shape back to the first printed strip each side. I then bent alone the light green strip and the dark strip to create a open sided tube! ( this is getting quite technical) The dark green strip was glued down to my page and the light green strip is on the inside edge of my frame. The two pattern strips are on the top of my frame, totally confused! I know I am. You can see from the photo above where I joined the two frames together to make one. It is joined in the top left corner and bottom right corner. I used the back of Goblin Gazette for the base of the layout.

I love Imaginarium Designs Chipboard, so I used lots of it on this layout. Clocks, steampunk clock, fine ferns, flourishes, corners, title and more all got layered on this layout.

I started with two flourishes inked black. The big clock is inked with Tim Holtz Ranger Distress ink - Peeled Paint. The fern is inked with brilliance in a lighter green. The smaller clock is inked with Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Dusty Concord and sprayed with iridescent spray.
I cut the words wicked from the"wicked" print paper and placed them around my frame

The flower head I inked with peeled paint and added glitter to it to give it a sparkle.

The steampunk clock was backed with a clock from the back of the "wicked" print paper. I used some of the metal flowers from Graphic 45. I love these flowers and I used one of Graphic 45's big brads as well for the flower center.
I had the perfect photo for this layout. It is one of Leah taken at her 18th birthday.
She had made her own dress including the wings, she is very talented and artistic. I knew that the photo would be perfect for the layout, but the quality was poor and the colour shocking, but it was the only one I had. I got John at Imaginarium Designs to do the title Magic to finish the layout off. I will add some journaling when the layout comes back from USA. I like to add very personal jouraling and don't like sharing it with everyone, so I leave the journaling off my work.

A tutorial for a Book

First thanks so much to every one who left a comment for me. I was blown away with all the lovely things you all said. I wish I could leave a comment for you all on your own blogs, but I can't so please take this as a special thank you.
Lots of you have asked me for a tutorial on how I make my Graphic 45 books. I have decided to do one for my blog readers only. So I need you to tell me what kind of book you would like to have me teach you here on my blog. I would love to hear from you as to what Graphic 45 collections, and how many pages you would like to book to be and the theme. I will post a tutorial every two weeks with a product list for you for the next page. This will give you the chance to get all the bits and pieces you need before hand. I am hoping that Seriously Scrapbooking will be selling each page in a kit form, so you will be able to buy it from their on line store. I am letting you know well in advance as I hope to be starting this in October. I will need some time to get it all coordinated. This is a big comment on my part so if you want this to go ahead, then you need to leave a comment so I have some idea of how many of you are going to do this with me.

My Turn to Share

Sorry I am a bit late. I have been flat on my back for the past couple of days with back muscle spasms and are totally over it! Have just got out of bed and come to work to post my layout today before returning home and back to bed. I love the two albums I received from “want 2 scrap” but didn’t want to make an album. I decided to use part of each of them on a layout and use the rest for other projects.
I love the chipboard cover with all it's fine detail. I inked one door piece with black ink and cut it in half. I used one piece in the top right and one piece in the bottom left corner of my layout. I covered the other piece of chipboard with the Magic of Oz “Goblin Gazette” after I had cut the border from it.

I used the Magic of Oz “Emerald City for the base of my page and adhered the border from Goblin Gazette.
This made a narrow frame for my layout. I needed to add some more colour to my page and used Halloween in Wonderland “curiouser and curiouser” as a square for my covered chipboard to sit on. I matted the curiouser and curiouser paper with black Bazzill and adhered it to the middle of my page. I then placed the black door pieces in the corners. I put more chipboard on the back of my covered chipboard shaped square to compensate for the door pieces. This also adds more dimension to my layout. I also received some flourish shapes which I inked with some pearliest inks to give them a shimmer. I added one at the top to hide the cut edge of the door. I added some brads to hide the hole in the door as well.
The other two I used down the bottom corner to create a feature on my layout.
I used a blossom branch and Desire flowers from Prima plus two flourishes from want 2 scrap..
I had the perfect photo of my daughter Anna for this page and I love her cheeky grin!
I like my layouts not to be too fussy and the photo to be the focus. I love colour and the wonderful range of Graphic 45 papers means there is lots to choose from and as the colours are so rich and beautiful and all go together it’s not hard to find the perfect paper every time.

Tutorial for a beautiful baby girl layout
For this layout I wanted to do something a bit different. Whenever I get new Graphic 45 papers I like to look that them and see if I can find a way to use them differently from the way they have been designed. The Once upon a Springtime enchanted Forest paper was a case in point. The paper is so beautiful so where do you put a photo? I decided to make mine a patchwork piece and cover most of the squares with some of the other lovely papers in this collection. This let me add smaller photos and I was able to fit 3 on my layout. You could add more photos if you wish to. I also cut the squares smaller than the printed ones on the paper, which gave me a cream frame round each of the pieces.
So get out all your leftover small pieces of “once upon a springtime” and let’s get started.

Please note all measurements are in inches:

Use your sheet of Enchanted forest and remove the excess cream around the edge. You can use scissors for this. This will be the foundation on which we place all our other print papers. Ink around the edge and tape it to your green cardstock, making sure you have the same amount of green showing all the way around.
I have numbered each square in the photo, as we will be working from square number 1-15. Below is a list of each print paper used and the size you need to cut to fit the square.
1. 1 ¾ x 2 15/16 inch of Spellbound.
2. 1 ½ x 2 1/8 inch Woodland Fantasy.
3. 1- 1/16 x 2 1/8 inch Primrose Cottage.
4. 2 x 2-15/16 inch Woodland Fantasy.
5. 2-1/8 x 2-15/16
6. 1 -6/8 x 3 ¼ inch Once upon a Springtime.
7. 3 x 4 inch Woodland Fantasy.
8. 3-1/8 x 2-12/16 inch Tiny Treasure.
9. 2-1/8 x 2-12/16 Primrose Cottage
10. 1-9/16 x 4-9/16 Woodland Fantasy
11. 3-1/16 x 4 -3/16 Flight of Fancy.
12. 1 x 2-3/4 inch Fairy Folk.
13. 2-1/16 x 2-11/16
14. 1 ½ x 3-1/16 Primrose Cottage.
15. 2-3/16 x 4-6/16 Enchanted Forest.

Square 4 is put on with foam tape and has a matted photo on it.
Square 6 has a piece of pink ribbon tied around it before adhering it to your page.

Square 7 is put on with foam tape and has a matted photo on it. Once you have your photo on, you can tie a ribbon around it with a bow on the front.

Square 10 is out on with foam tape. Add a photo (not matted).

Square 11 has a quote on it. I like the one " Babies are such a nice way to start people".
Use a Martha Stewart boarder punch and punch a piece of green vine long enough to fit on the fence. Glue the vine to the fence. Glue the five cream roses to the apricot flowers and place them along the vine. Add crystals to the leaves. Glue fence to layout as shown

Ink title words and glue it to your layout.
Add frame and flower to your layout.
Ink corners and glue them to your layout.
Ink girls and glue them to your layout.
You can place as many photos as you like and put them on any square you like. You can even leave some of the print papers off and have the base squares showing.

Toile and Ticking is beautifully historically French and fabulously Shabby!
Toile is a distinct elegant pattern used in various shades and Ticking is a stripe – usually a double stripe or uneven spaced stripe…

I didn't have any Toile or Ticking, but found some fabric in a patchwork store for the toile. I had to print the ticking image from the Internet. I decided to do a layout on my Great Grandmother Florence. I remember visiting her in a nursing home. She was such a grand old Lady who always sat bolt upright in her chair. She died at 96 with her memory intact, by then I was 12 years old. I used a photo of her taken when she was about 19 years old. She was married by this time and had one child. The smaller photo is take at her 90th birthday. She must have had a hard life as my Great Grandfather was injured in a work related accident and died in his late 40's. She had 9 children and lived through some of the great changes in 20th century. From travelling by horse and buggy to seeing Man walk on the moon. From using candles to computers. The changes she witnessed in her life time were huge.
I used the fabric for tieing the large bow on my page. I also cut some on the fabric into a 3 inch strip and ran a gathering thread up the middle of it and pulled it up to make a bunting which I put under each of the photos.

I used two frames from Imaginarium Designs and randomly painted them with a paint dabber. This let the grey chipboard show through a little which gave it a blue tinge to balance out all the white on my layout . I also put a little bit on glitter on the frame to give it a lift. I added the ticking as stripes at the bottom of my page and attached it with some MM button brads. The flower was white and I had to spray with glimmer mist to get the deep blue colour I wanted. I added some ribbons, a lock small frame and swag from Melisa Frances. It is my first "white" layout I have done and I really like it. It still needs some journaling but I will do another page to match and put the journaling on that one.Thanks for looking

Graphic 45 have featured some of my work on their blog, this means I can share with you. Grapic 45 sent me some of their new papers from the Magic of Oz collection. I decided to make an easle card.
I love the way these kind of cards stand up, making them a special card which can be on display rather than popped in a box or stashed in a draw. I used papers from the Magic of Oz collection for this card. I used some of graphic 45 hinges to make a flap on the front of my card. When you open the flap there is a pocket which lets you tuck money or a gift card into. Purple and green work so well together, and isn’t funny how the meaning of words change. Wicked now means great or cool as my kids tell me. Different from when I was a kid and it meant extremely bad. So now I have a totally cool card for a very“ wicked” teenager - Perfect.

I am really into miniature at the moment and having great fun doing lots of little projects. I have a great photo of the Lovely Graphic 45 ladies taken in Australia this year. I decide to do this project on Diane The book is only 4 inches high and five inches wide. It sits on an Imaginarium Designs chipboard stand, slightly opened. I love the way all Graphic 45 papers work together, I used papers from the new “magic of Oz” range. I love this new line of papers. The colours are so strong and the prints are delightful. I uses a chipboard compass and fine leaves from Imaginarium designs. This balanced the heavy metal staples flower from Graphic 45 which I just love. I cut out flowers from one of the prints and layered them to give them a 3d look. I added some magical words in an Imaginarium designs frame which describe Diane (hope she doesn’t mind being thought of as “antique” meaning valuable rather than old!) I also added a crown because she is the” Queen of design” as we all know.

It's CHA Time Again

Once again it's CHA time, this time its the summer show being held in Florida. I was lucky to attend the winter show in LA in January. I decided to make a Victorian style theater using Graphic 45's Le Cirque. John and I got together and came up with a stage which all locks together and is easy to put together and take a part and packs flat!

It is about 14inches wide and 16 inches high. I cut lots of the animals and people from the Graphic 45 papers and put them on long sticks. It has backdrops so that a child can stand behind it and using the animas and people create their own circus.

Here it is at CHA, sitting on an old chair in the Graphic 45 Booth. It was so great seeing my work on display with all the other wonderful projects from the Design Team Members. If you are lucky enough to be going to CHA, then make sure you visit Graphic 45's Booth and check out the work from the new design team. We have been sharing on our private facebook page and the work is just amazing. I have sent my projects to them and they should nearly be there by now. Just checked the Graphic 45 web and found some photos of one of the new lines to be released at CHA. The girls and man on the domestic team were able to get papers from this line to work with for CHA, but us international girls missed out. We will be getting ours a bit later. Make sure you vist the Gaphic 45 blog over the next few weeks to see all the amazing projects created by the team. We have been sharing projects with each other on our private face book page and the projects I have seen so far are beyond amazing.

I have lost a MONTH

Where to start, first, sorry for not blogging for so long. I have just had too much on my platter and something has to give. So my blog has been a bit neglected. I promise to blog more often starting from now. I have been to Brisbane and done my classes. I had a great time meeting lots of lovely ladies from all over Australia and New Zealand. My classes went well and I got lots of great feed back from those attending. I taught 9 classes in three days to over 250 people. All my projects were using Graphic 45 papers and Imaginarium Designs Chipboard. I Hope to teach next year, so would love to see some of you who attended this year again. I then drove home - back to Adelaide and spent the week getting over the expo.The next big job was writing and planning all the classes and newsletter for my store Seriously Scrapbooking, we hold over 40 classes each month of which I teach 10-15. This is a huge job and takes me three days to do. I roped in Nat this time to give me a hand. While I was away my box of goodies arrived from Graphic 45 for CHA. The girls in the store got to open it and wrote me a note on the paperwork. It read, " lots of lovely goodies, please remember your amazing staff - its nice to share", with a hug & kiss at the end! Talk about a big hint. I have to say it was an amazing box with so much in it. Hampton Art was very generous along with spellbinders, clearsnap and lots of other companies, which I will mention latter. I have just today sent a box of projects back to them for display at CHA. I did a layout, card. altered art pieces and a pop up book all in the new "magic of Oz" range. Can't show any sneak peeks until they show them on their blog. But as soon as I am allowed to, I will post some photos on the blog to share with you all. Some of my work as been featured on the Graphic 45 blog so this means I can share with you all.
I have been doing some Altered Art pieces which I love, as anything small is an addiction for me.
This little book is only 4 inches high and 5 inches wide. It sits on a stand and is a great way of displaying a photo. It's a new line from Imaginarium Designs and I have done two so far. This one is on Aimee, who is one of the ladies from Graphic 45. She is another amazing lady who I have had the pleasure to met a few times.
This view is from the back and shows the stand, which I inked and stamped with a tiny word stamp. Don't you love the butterfly, it's only an inch long.
Each month as part of my being on the Graphic 45 design team, I have to do three projects, one of which is a tutorial. This is great as I can do anything I like! They are a great company to do work for and I really am delighted to have another year with them. Charee asked us to do a project using one of the staples door handle and plate. I decided to do mine as a fan and used a photo of Diane taken in Brisbane this year. Diane is the lovely designer and owner of Graphic 45, a very special person. I had John from Imaginarium Designs cut me the fan blades in the same shape as the door plate.
I used some white beautiful lace gathered up to make a circle. I glued flowers to the middle of it to make a rosette. I used one of Prima's glass looking vines which I love. They have an old world charm about them. They remind me of the cut class dishes my Grandmother used to have.

I used some of the butterflies from Imaginarium designs sprayed with gesso, this gives them a white chalky look. Don't you love the fine detail on the butterfly wings!

Well that's all for now. I am feeling like I have finally caught up, although I have an all day scrap in just over three weeks time to arrange. 85 Ladies have booked in to attend, so tomorrow I will start planning it all. One of my first jobs will be to make the project I am teaching, I can share with you that it is an altered art project using a mini black tin in the shape of an old hat box from Prima. Can't wait to get started.

I am a Guest Designer at the Colour Room

All the ladies on the Imaginarium Designs Team are being Guest Designers at the Colour Room. This week it is Askua and my turn. If you haven't visited Askua's blog then make sure you do. She is the most amazingly talent lady I have seen for a long long time. It was really hard having to put my work along side hers.

I had trouble with this palette as the colours were hard to find. I loved the blue/grey/brown colour. You can see I had trouble with this colour, I can't even describe it properly! Again I had no photo in mind, but when I was looking for the perfect photo, I remembered this one of my Grandfather and me. His suit was nearly a perfect match and I love the photo. I am about 2, my Grandfather died when I was 8, but I still remember him. The rocking chair we are sitting in is my Great Grandmothers, and will be mine one day. I have photos of my Grandfather, on the other side of the family, sitting in it, holding his first great grand child and my first child. Will have to to another page one day just on the rocking chair.
Heather and Steph have been encouraging me to leave some negative space on my pages to "rest the eyes" as Steph says. I struggle with this as I need to fill my pages and if there is space left, I feel I have left something off!

Creative Block in Brisbane at Printblocks

I got to catch up with the Lovely Ladies from Graphic 45 over the weekend at Printblocks Creative Block. It was so nice seeing them again, and having lunch together each day.
I was attending as part of Imaginarium Designs stand. I spent the three days doing make and takes with lovely ladies from all over Australia and New Zealand. It was so much fun sharing and teaching lots of different techiqunesss. We did a different style of tag each day. I have been asked to teach at stores in NSW, VIC, WA and Tasmaia. The biggest surprise was being asked to teach in New Zealand by some of the store there. I would love to do that, as I was born there and have not been back for over 25 years.

I thought I would share a layout I did for Creative Block and Graphic 45. I love this photo of Anna and Kate, taken at their Grandma's 70th birthday.

I used papers, stickers and some of their staples from Graphic 45. I added some Prima flowers and crystal flourishes. I love the BoBunny Timeless embelishments which work so well with this layouts.

I'm a Guest Designer at Once upon a Sketch!

Once upon a Sketch is a international sketch challenge blog which encourage everyone from all parts of the world to take part in their fortnightly sketch challenges. They have an international design team who create projects based on the fortnight's sketch and Criteria which will hopefully give you the push you need. They invited me to send in my take on their sketch and here it is.

I decided to do a tom boy page on my daughter Leah, who as a child loved playing with mud and water. I have lots of photos take of her over the years happily playing in mud! I love the look on her face when we found her. She seem to know that she had been wicked but the face shows how much she had been enjoying herself.

I used some cogs and borders from Imaginarium Designs. The vine and border I inked with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint. For the vine I stamped over the green with a random number stamp using black soot. Peeled Paint is one of my favorite colours. The cogs I inked with Tim's black soot. Some of them I sprayed with Stewart's Superior memory mist in Sparkling Silver. If you have never used this product I suggest you give it a try. It is magic for misting or spraying chipboard.

For the title, I inked it with Aged Mahogany and then sprayed it with cream spray paint but only lightly, this allows the mahogany to still show through and gives it an aged look. I used a sheet of Prima and one of their flowers, I also used some decorative brads from Making Memories. I like my layouts to be uncluttered and the photos the focus.

Where does the time go?

Sorry about being so slack in updating my blog. It's not because nothing has happen, in fact to much has happened. Hence the lack of blogging. So I decided to make this a long one and share some layouts I have been doing for my daughters album. So working backwards in the events in my life. Heather rang me today to let me know, that a mini book of hers and an altered art piece of mine are featured projects on the Graphic 45 ning site. This is a first for both of us and we are both tickled pink!
Also excited to be able to say that 5 of my classes at Brisbane are sold out. Still getting over the shock. Another two have room for a few more people. The baby girl layout still has room and I promise it is really nice and you will love it. I am heading up to Brisbane next week and will be catching up with Charee and Diane from Graphic 45 can't wait to see them again.
Over Easter I de-cluttered the house. Wow what a job, hubby and I went through every cupboard and it was a big throw out. We had a hard waste collection the following week, so it was the perfect time. I sent lots of items to a local opp shop, and gave lots of left over craft items to a lady who does after school care. They now should have enough stuff to last them until the end of the year! this means all my cupboards have room in them for more stuff.
I also came into the shop for a day creating, which I can't show yet. What I can share is some of Beth's layouts from her album. Sorry there are no photos, need a long holiday to sort her photos and get them in. This album will be for her teen years. Beth is my eldest and has beautiful red/auburn hair. The range of papers is from K & Company and is called Blossomwood. Perfect for Beth's colouring.

I have used Imaginarium Design chipboard for the window and door and title. The window and Door is from an mini book they do. I sprayed all three pieces black with semi gloss black spray paint. I love layering papers so I go through a few on each layout. For this one I used the poppy papers from the mat pad they had, which matches the 12x12 papers. This means the prints are a bit smaller.

For this single page layout, I used some of the Imaginarium Designs corners and some of their skeleton leaves which I left raw.

I used the cricut to a flower shape with the middle missing, and layered it on die cut flower (Tim Holtz tattered florals). I used some of Graphic 45 metal flowers which I love. Again I layered papers and bazzils, and a transparency from Teresa Collins. I used some crystals for magnolia to finish it off.

Will try to post a bit more, some times life just gets in the way. Any way don't forget to join Imaginariums Blog as they will be drawing the lucky winner next week.

Teaching at the Scrapbook, Papercraft Expo and Convention in Brisbane June Long Weekend

I am excited to be teaching at the Scrapbook, Papercraft Expo and Convention June long weekend in Brisbane. Printblocks invited me to be one of their teachers. I have three classes each day for three days. I am in class room 9. I will be repeating the same classes each day. My first class is Patchwork Pieces from Paris. I will be teaching a 7 1/2 x 7 1/2 square made up of mini squares. Some are photos and some are decorated. I love this form of scrapbooking and hope to bring my big one with me to the expo. I have been working on it and teaching it for over a year. It has over 200 squares and is 24 x 24 inches. My second class is a layout called Baby Girl. I love the way this layout has come together and look forward to teaching it.

My last class is a layout called Just You. I really like this layout, it has strong colours and butterflies just flying off the page. You will need to bring your favorite scissors for some serious cutting.

Each class is $50 which includes everything! I think you can book in now on the Papercraft expo site. There is a link on the left side of my blog. I would love to see some familiar faces in my classes. Josh an I are driving to Brisbane as we have so much stuff to take. As well as teaching I am having a stand at the show for Seriously Scrapbooking. Make sure you visit and say Hi.

I am being introduced on Graphic 45's Blog

It's my turn on Graphic 45's Blog and they are showing my final round projects. I made a pop up book for them along with a card and layout. The book was great fun and I loved making it. Because my last book traveled around USA, I decided to make a box for this book to go in. I used Graphic 45 staples brads for the feet and one of the door knobs for a handle. The top of the box lifts off.

I choose some of my favorite photos of my family and did a page on each of us. I used lots of Imaginarium Design chipboard. The frame on the front of the box and corners on the lid are all Imaginarium chipboard.

I thought I would show some photos of the other pages. Graphic 45 have some pages on their blog as well. The clocks and cogs are Imaginarium Designs.

I love this photo of Anna and myself taken when she was about 6 months old. I was only 22 when she was born, so I look quite young in the photo! The Frame is a new design from Imagainarium along with the butterfly.

We also had to make a card, I am not really a card maker. I leave the card making to those on the team who are superb at it like Glorious Gloria! But I had to do one as part of our final projects for Graphic 45. This is what I came up with. I love the metal staples from Graphic 45 and by using some of the papers and my Tim Holtz die I have a lovely large flower. The black Imaginarium Chipboard Frame just sets it off nicely. Make sure you check Graphic 45's blog each day as they introduce the whole team to you. It looks like being an amazing year for us all.

A very Happy Person

I got up early this morning, 7am in fact, which is very early for me. It was still dark and I couldn't wait any longer to find out if I had made the team. So excited to see my name on the list along with friends - Lynette and Tara. So glad to see fellow design team member Gloria is on the list as well. Feel sorry for those who did not make it. What A Delightful Surprise!

I had a phone call today from Heather, congratulating me on being one of this weeks featured projects on the Colour Room website. I was delighted as this was my first palette for the Colour Room. Congratulations to the other ladies featured. I feel very lucky to be chosen from so many other talented people. There were some amazing layouts done for this week palette. I will definitely have to have another go.

I was delighted to also be on Graphic 45's Blog this week with an artist tray I did for my niece using "Once upon a Springtime"

This was a tray I made for CHA, using Graphic 45's "once upon a Springtime" 8x8 pad. This gave me the print paper with smaller images which are perfect for mini projects or off the page projects. I used lots of chipboard from Imaginarium Designs. Flowers from Prima and Green Tara, ribbons from Vandoros and some cute epoxy words/images buttons from K&Company.

My Sister is 19 years younger than me, so I'm kinda a second mum. She has one daughter Amy and about to have a second child any day. They live on the other side of Australia to me, so we don't catch up with each other as much as we would like to, but chat on the phone every week.

Would love to share some more, but I have been busy this week in the shop teaching. Will try and show some more work next week.

The Colour Room

The Colour Room is celebrating it's 50 colour palette. Steph Devlin asked me to have a go at doing the palette, as I have never done one before. I loved the colours in the palette so decided I would. I used white cardstock for my base and added another cardstock in the middle shade of blue. I chose one of Prima's new print papers in the lighter shade of the blue with white spots. It looked a little flat on the darker blue bazzill, so I gave it a lift by putting another white cardstock in between them. I punched the corners with a Martha Stewart punch. I cut a piece of Amy Buttler print paper to add to the layout on the right side. Over the top I place two torn pieces of one of the new Prima papers, its the one with small butterflies. I had Imaginarium Designs do me a large butterfly in chipboard. I painted it white and then sprayed it with Marshmallow Glimmermist. Once dry I painted it with rock candy crackle paint. To add some blue to the butterfly I stamp some french writing scrip all over it with a blue ink pad. I used the same ink pad to colour the frame to match. I used copic markers to colour some clear crystals from Prima to get the exact colour I wanted. I added two large white Prima flowers and again with the copic marker I coloured in two smaller white flowers. I added some skeleton leaves, a maya road pearl pin and ribbon. I used Imaginarium Designs chipboard letters for Kates name. On top of the chipboard I used some Prima felt letters. I added some glitter on top of the felt letters to give them a lift.

Off to Brisbane Sunday

I am packing my suitcase at the moment as I am leaving for Brisbane tomorrow for a class I am teaching at Printblocks on Monday. It will be a full on day with a group of Ladies joining me for a book making all day class. I have designed a new book just for Graphic 45 and Printblocks. I will be using the new Curtain Call papers and some of Imaginarium Designs Chipboards. I will be teaching them how to make a book from start to finish, including decorating all 11 pages. They will be using a wide range of different page ideas. Some pages will have pockets and tags, one is an envelope and others are flaps and folding out pages. I will also be bringing another 6 books with me to show other ideas I have used in the past. I spent 3 full days writing instructions for this class, so I will never be teaching another book like this again, unless I don't have to write instructions! I have done a couple of extra kits, so if you are a store owner or teacher and would like to attend then you better ring Printblocks first thing Monday Morning.

It's Gone!

I have just got back from posting my box off to Graphic 45, how I wish I could show you what I have made. I have used papers from every collection Graphic 45 released while I have been on their design team! I have taken lots of photo's and have been asked to teach the "off the page project" in the store. So now I and the other 24 finalists have to wait to find out who has made it onto the team for 2011. I hate waiting, but I have plenty of other work and projects to make for up and coming classes, also have a trip to Brisbane for a class I am teaching at Printblocks. So hopefully the time will go quick! Graphic 45 posted a project I made for CHA on their blog this week. So now I can show you on my blog.

I used one of Graphic 45's Black Policy Envelope Albums and Papers from the new "Curtain Call" Collection. The first two photos are of the cover.

I like to cut some of the envelopes in half to create a pocket which can be accessed from the side. I cut some images from one of the print papers, mounted it on cardstock. I can used it as a photo mount or journaling tag.

The bit of the pocket I have cut off, I used to create a pocked on the front of one of the envelopes with the opening at the top!

The photo below shows one of the pockets I have cut with the tag inside it.

I used some of the chipboard pieces from Imaginarium Designs. I love these chipboard shapes and borders. I sprayed them black with a gloss paint to make them shiny. They add class to the album and really finish it off.

I have nearly finished my "off the page project" and again it's taken on a life of it's own and is bigger and more elaborate than when I first started it. Hope to finish it tomorrow and post everything Wednesday. Then all of us sweat it out, (literally in Australia as it is very hot in Adelaide at the moment) for the next few weeks until the final team is chosen.

My projects for Graphic 45's 2011 Design Team Call

First I want to thank Graphic 45 for giving me the opportunity to be a part of their design team last year and am so grateful that we are able to re-apply to be on the team again. They have asked that those who want to apply, need to post 10-15 projects on their blog. So here are my favorite Graphic 45 layouts and off the page projects in no particular order.

This was a book I made as my final project for the design team last year. It was published in Scrapbooking and beyond and I have received many emails and lovely comments about.

This was a shadow box from Imagainarium Designs and I used papers from Once upon a Springtime to decorate it. The small images on the papers were perfect to make matching embellishments. And as soon as I saw the primrose paper I knew I would need to cut it out to make a matching vine embellishment. I like using the papers in creative ways rather than using embellishments from other companies.

This was a layout for my son Josh using the Steampunk collection and Imaginarium Designs chipboard.

This is a new layout for the May Art ribbons blog swap, using the new Curtain Call collection of papers.

"Life long Memories I want you to remember" was a project I did for Scrapbooking Memories Masters last year. I made the box from scratch and using 7Gypsies book covers for the dividers. My Dad had a stroke over a year ago and he has lost the ability to start a conversation. The box is to help with his speech and give people who visit him something to talk about with him. The box has 52 pockets with questions for My Mum and him to answer about childhood and early married life. They grew up in New Zealand in Christchurch. I was born there and spent the first 11 years of my life in Christchurch before we left for Australia in the seventies. It as been very sad seeing all the images of my birth town in the news of late, my thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones.

The above book is one I did for CHA this year. It is one of Graphic 45's envelope books and I used the new range of Curtain Call papers.

This was another project I did for Diane, I love doing little squares and this one was using their Renasissance Faire range of beautiful papers.

This is another book, I really like making books, I am not sure why. But as a child I didn't have a TV so I read books. In my home I have 2000 children novels, collected from my youth. I also have over 100 picture fiction books as well. This does not count adult novels or my husbands book, or even my children who all collect books as well. They also have grown up without a TV. I love reading and have past it onto my children. I used to read to them every night. Maybe my love for making books has something to do with this! I can't share photos of the pages as I am teaching it at printblocks in March (2011)

This is one of my favorite layouts, this was the first time I made a frame from Graphic 45's stripe papers and it work so well. This layout is using their Playtimes past collection.

This layout was one I did using Graphic 45'sTransatlantique collection. I love the strong colours in this collection.

I love making books in all sizes and this one using Graphic45's Kraft Envelope album and papers from Halloween in Wonderland. I love this collection again the strong colours work so well together.

Again another take on Squares, this time they are bigger and I used a frame from Imagainarium Designs.

This still is my favorite Graphic 45 layout. I have to say it was one of my less favorite collections when I first saw it, BUT I love it now, I think its the greens/blues colour palette which works for me so well.

I have tried to show different projects to give a good view of what I love to do, layouts, mini books, off the page or even big books. I just love working with Graphic 45's amazing Papers and now their embellishments and stamps. I also have been able to teach Graphic 45 classes at Printblock. These classes are for store owners and teaches and I have enjoyed sharing my love of Graphic 45 with them. Special thanks to Printblocks and Graphic 45 for making this happen. I had lots of other projects I wanted to share more, but they asked for 10-15 so I won't over do it.

Graphic 45 have put my layout along with some cards from the other girls. This means I can share it with you. I love the cream's and black colours of the Curtain Call collection. It is great for wedding layouts and the ribbons from May Arts were the perfect match. I used a cream silk ribbon to make the roses and added a knot of cream organza with gold stitching for the centers. I used some beautiful shot green silk for leaves. A coffee coloured silk ribbon for a large soft bow finished my embellishment. May Arts also included some gold wire ribbon which I wrapped around a paint brush and added to my flowers. The whole look is elegant and perfect for the photo of my daughter and her husband. I love the combination of the strong colours in the papers and the soft ribbon flowers. The photo does not do the ribbons justice as you can't really see the beautiful finish on the ribbons or the true colours of the shot ribbon.

I also made another book this week for my daughters birthday. I can't show anymore that the cover as I am teaching it at Printblocks Monday 14th of March. This is definitely a one off class and will not be teaching a book again. Its too hard to write the instructions, I spent two full on days writing them! You need to be a teacher or store owner to attend this class and as the class is limited to 30 people you will need to contact Printblocs ASP and book in. It has 12 pages inside, all decorated using G45 Curtain Call. I have included lots of different things in this book to show you just what you can do.
I have lots of other things to share but this will have to do for now. I will be putting all my projects for Graphic 45 design call over the weekend. Nothing like leaving it until the last week.

Graphic 45 and May Art Ribbons Blog Swap

The design team at Graphic 45 are all doing a blog hop with May Art Ribbons. I have done a layout which will be posted on Graphic 45's blog later this week. This means I can't show you yet! But check out what Candy, Jade and Gloria have been doing. We all got a bag of the most beautiful ribbons sent to us, and most of us want more. It is great seeing all of the girls different styles. We all have our own look to our work, so it makes it exciting even for us to see what we all come up with. I have finished my book for the class I am teaching in March for Printblocks and will put a sneek peek here in a day or two.

Back Home at Last

I have finally made it home, and the jet lag has been trying. I have felt like doing nothing for about a week, which is ok if you don't have to work. Now I am hard at it, getting projects ready to teach in Brisbane in March and June. I am doing a class with Printblocks March 14th. I have been asked to teach one of my books. So if you are a retailer or teacher for a store then contact Printblocks and book in. I will bring some different samples of books to show just what you can do. The classes in Brisbane June long weekend are open to everyone. I am teaching two pages and an off the page project. I will let you know more when I have some more information. You may have noticed a new company banner on the side of my blog! I am the design team leader for Imaginarium Designs, and I can not even begin to tell you how excited I am. While I was away, Nat introduced the other team members and special thanks to her for all her hard work. The other ladies are so talented and am honoured to be part of this amazing group of ladies. Please take the time to visit there blogs and leave comments for them. You will be blown away by their wonderful work. Each of the girls have a different style and together will take you on a truly creative journey.

The Graphic 45 design team call has gone out and I will be entering again. In the next day or two I will be posting 10-15 projects. Some you may have already seen and some I am working on, some will be work I did for CHA. I would love another year with this wonderful company and the chance to create for them with their amazing papers and embellishments.

The photos above are of some of the design team, with Diane and Aimee at the Graphic 45 Booth. It was so nice to meet Tracy and Gloria and spend some time with them. Tracy and I swapped Aussie Tim Tams with American chocolate which she warned me I would not like. She was so right. Give me Cadbury any day. Diane took us (Tracy, Gloria, Jan and myself), her family, friends and her staff attending CHA all to dinner Sunday night at the Palms in LA for a truly culinary delight. The steak melted in my mouth and the deserts were yummy. I would love to share more photos of my trip over the next few months so keep in touch.

In San Franciso

Jan and I have made it to San Francisco. The flight was only an hour and it looks like a totally different city. The weather is great, we have been checking on the weather channel and the other side of the states is totally snowed out. I met ladies at CHA that were leaving early hopping to bet the snow storms. They were worried that if they got delayed that they might not get home for a week. At the airport this morning while we were booking in, they cancelled all fights to New York. We arrived at lunch time, caught a shuttle bus to our hotel which is in union square. The cable car is right outside our hotel. So we got on and headed down to the bay, I decide to ride the running board and take photos from outside the trolly car. We thought we would walk to fishermans wharf, we didn't get far before it started to get dark, so we headed back. Across from our hotel is Macey's, Jan and I went to the cheesecake factory for dinner. The main meal is so big here in the states that we both didn't fit the cheesecake, so we plan to go back tomorrow and just have the cheesecake. We have booked into a tour tomorrow, we will be going to see the giant redwoods, Muir Woods and Sausalito. We will be also be doing a tour of the city from the bay to the ocean with photo stops at key locations.

Day 2

Today was just as full on as yesterday. Steph gave me a wish list for her classes, so I started with the Websters Booth. there I met the lovely Brandin, while catching up with her, Jing Jing stopped by. She recognised me and introduced me to her friend. I am sorry to say that I can't remember her name. She knows Steph, so I am sure Steph will be able to help me out with her name. I also had my photo taken with Heidi, who was teaching a class at Tattered Angels. I have found some new companies and placed orders with them. I will post images when I get back.

Some of the booth's here are amazing. You can tell that some companies have spent lots of time setting them up. Graphic 45's booth is one of the best and not just because I am on the team, but the work on display is beautiful and the decorations and furniture is just amazing. I have included one photo of their booth. I am sorry if the photo is a bit blurry, but Jan's lap top is in mini mode. The scrip size is about 6 and I can hardly read it, so sorry for any spelling mistakes. The same as the photos, I am unable to see them in a large size.

I now have a suitcase full of catalogue for the girls to go through. I have had two projects picked up for publication in the states, which is great.

I have met lots of lovely Ladies from all over the States and caught up with some from Australia. It has be great and I will be wanting to come again.

Tomorrow Jan and I will head to CHA for a couple of hours and just finish a couple of things. Then we intend to do another tour. The next day See's us travel to San Fransisco for 4 days before we head back to Australa.

Unbelieveable

Jan and I have survived our 1st day of CHA, it was unbelievable, and you need to be there to see it all. I took over 600 photo's. I started at the G45 booth and caught up with the lovely Ladies there. I took lots of photo's of their stand and all my projects on display there. My next stop was scrapbooking and beyond, where I got 15 magazines for everyone back home., this issues is the one with my book in it.. My next stop was October Afternoon. The show started at 10am and by 1.30pm I had visited only 4 booths. I did an order for of all Tim Holt's new lines and then it was time to catch the man himself. I watched him using his new stains and I will be ordering them tomorrow. Jan and I were lucky enough to receive an autograph tag from Tim himself. I met Melissa Frances, and Teresa Collins and they were kind enough to let me have my photo taken with them.

I have been having trouble with the Internet here, and this post has taken me three hours to do. I am down to typing with one finger, so I don't hit any other keys and loose the lot. So I am going to post now, so Jan can go to sleep.

Another Post

After the Cemetery, we got the bus back to Hollywood Boulevard. We saw Rodeo Drive, Sunset Boulevard and the famous Beverly Hills sign. We saw the stars in the footpath, Kodak theatre and the famous Chinese Theatre. The theatre was all blocked off due to a movie premier being held there that nigh, Anthony Hopkins is in it. There were people everywhere, waiting for the stars to appear. By the time we got to the hotel, we had been at it for 24 hours straight with no sleep. Both of us slept all night and woke up at 7.30am ready for a day at Disney Land. I must have taken 0ver 300 photos which I will have to upload later.

I am meet the team from Graphic 45 tomorrow, and giving them my projects for their stall.

I am in LA

I am finally here, it's still hard to believe. The flight was a bit boring, 14 hours and not much sleep. Jan and I arrived at 8am and went straight to our hotel. We decided to take a tour bus around Hollywood, it was a double decker bus and we sat on the top. You can get off at different stops and then do some site seeing, and then wait for the next bus and jump back on. The first stop we got off at was at the Hollywood Cemetery. I know what you are all thinking! why the cemetery. Well it's the dead centre of town (a dad joke) From the bus we could see some amazing tomb stones and crypts. It was one of the most beautiful cemetery I have ever seen. We got a map with a list of the famous people buried there. As Jan and I are just young girls, we didn't know many of them. It was so restful wandering around looking at the graves. There is a large Jewish part to the cemetery, if fact over 1/2 of it was Jewish. Their head stones were all so lovely, with people faces engraved on them. The mausoleum had to be seen to be believe, it was quiet and cool, with stained glass windows.

On the sides of the walls are marble squares with peoples names and in some walls there are little boxes with glass doors. Some of them have boxes and urns inside. I wish I could add more photos but Jan's laptop is not doing what I want it to do. So I am going to post this and then do another post in an hour or two.

My Album comes up for Auction on Sunday 23rd January

When Sherry asked me to donate a project for the flood appeal in Queensland, I want to give something special. Up for Auction on Sunday 23rd at 10am-8pm is one of my albums. This one is the blue Awnings album by K & Company. This was a series of classes run over one year. Each month we got together and I created a double or single layout using all the lovely lines of paper and embellishments from K&Co. The Album and layouts all match, you just need to add your photo's and jouraling. It would be perfect for a gift or just a special album for a special person. I had a lot of fun designing and making this album and really enjoyed teaching it. It was to be for one of my daughters, but she will just have to wait, Queensland is more important. We have been thinking of our fellow Australians who have had lives destroyed by this natural disaster. We can all do a bit to help and every little bit makes a difference. Two lovely Australian Ladies have got together and are raising money to help those who have been affected by the disaster which has been happening in Queensland. All of us are shocked by the images we have been seeing and the overwhelming feelings of being wanting to help but not sure how.

You can by attending an auction being held on face book. Many mix media artists and scrapbookers from all over the world and many in Australia are donating works of art for you to buy. All money raised is going to the Premier Flood Relief Appeal. I was asked to donate something and I have given one of my albums. Its a 12x12 K & Company Blue Awnings Album with 10 double layouts and 2 single layouts, all ready and done, just waiting for your photos and journing. Keep an eye out for it at the Creative Journey face book Page. There are auctions happening all day every day until they run out of items for you to bid on. There is even a list of people who have donated, with many familiar names on there, so this is your chance to win a piece of work from one of your favorite creative people.

Another Page in my Book

There is the next page in my Book. This one is on my Third Darling Daughter. She was married early last year and this just about to celebrate her 1st wedding anniversary- my how time flies. For this page I decided to make a book within a book. This 1st photo shows the page as it looks. The photo of Leah is on the 1st page of the mini book. Note the rose here is done by cutting out lots of the same rose and building it up again petal by petal, I needed 7 copies of the same rose and it took three sheets of paper to do it.

Tutorial for Making a Frame

In this tutorial I would like to show you how to make a frame around a page using one of the Graphic 45 striped paper. You need to choose a paper that has a repeating patterned least four times. Each pattern must be the same width, if you want your corners to match.

Choose your background paper and leave it the full 12x12 inches. Choose a second print paper to be a contrast and cut it to 11 3/4 x 11 3/4 inches and tape to the background paper in the middle. In the Halloween in Wonderland layout I used Wonderland Classifieds and my background and my contrast print was Jabberwocky. For my stripe I used Uncommon Nonsense.

Once you have your background page and contrasting page taped together, you are ready to make your frame. Cut your four stripes pieces the same width and place one stripe each side of the contrasting square, leaving a whisker showing on the outer edge. This will make the frame 11 1/8 x 11 1/8. Place a small amount of tape under each stripe in the middle. Don't used too much as you will need to lift the frame off, when the corners are done. Tape the two pieces of frame together at the corners ( but not to the base papers), to make it a bit firmer. Check that your frame is square using a ruler, to do this measure from the outside edge of your frame across at the top and then at the bottom. both measurements should be the same. Turn the page and repeat the other way. If all measurements are the same then your frame will be square.

When happy you can make the mitre in each corner. To do this, use a ruler and measure from inside corner to the outer corner. Mark with a pencil. Do this to all four corners. To make it easier for you to see, I have removed my frame from my page, you don't need to do this yet.

Cut with scissors but only the top layer and not the bottom. Do this to all four corners. To make it easier for you to see I have removed my frame from my page, you don't need to do this yet. Rove the extra bits hanging under the frame and tape down the top corner to the bottom.

Remove the frame in one pieces and turn it over and reinforce with the frame with cardboard along each side of the frame. I always put my frames on my pages with foam tape, this gives depth to my layouts. Be generous with the amount of foam tape you use, as this stops the frame from sagging. Be careful when sticking frame to page. I always stick only a little bit on at a time, rather than trying to do it in one go. You now not only have a frame, but you have a shadow box. You can now build up other pieces on your layout.

Here are another couple of samples of Frame Layouts.

In the Christmas layout I used Bazzill for my background, Yours Truly form my contrast print with Uncommon Nonsense for my Stripe.

In my layout playtime past, I used Always on my Mind, for the background, for my contrast page I used Dolly's tea Party and for my stripe I used Jack and Jill.

Well its back to work today, and I am finding it hard to settle to anything, so I have decide to update my blog.

Here is the next page in my book. This is one I did for Anna, my special girl, who is the delight and some times the pain of my life. I used the playtime collection for this one. I fell in love with the "Mary Quite Contrary" print, but found it too busy and wondered where I was going to put my photo! So I grabed my fine point scissors and I started cutting. The tree was probably the hardest bit. Then I put it all back together again. I had this lovely photo of Anna on a merry go round when she was about 4yrs. In looking for this photo I found one of her taken 4 yrs ago at water world. Perfect two photos taken 20yrs apart but with the same theme. A scrapbookers perfect excuse for a layout. This was the first time I tried making a frame around my pages and I love the look. I have used this time and time again. I have a tutorial to put on my blog for making this, so I will post it tomorrow if anyone wants to try it. Bits and pieces of the layout are raised up with foam.

We had a very special Visitor Yesterday!

It was 41c or 107f (for all you ladies shivering over seas) yesterday in Adelaide, and that's in the shade! I decided that as our home does not have air-con that it would be a good idea to work at the shop. Our shop has two big units and the shop stayed a cool 23c all day. I can see out of our double glass doors, and I noticed a lot of people stopping in the car park and peering up at one of the trees on the edge of the car park and foot path. Our shop is in a side street of one of the busy main roads in Adelaide, but as we are close to the foot hills we have a lovely view. So being curious I wandered out to have a look for my self. This Koala was so low down the tree at one could touch him. It is illegal to touch so I just looked and told him how sorry I was that he had to wear his fur coat on such a hot day. I took a stack of photo's as you don't normally see them this close and left him with a contain of water. He is our local Koala and moves around Colonel light Gardens, we had him in a tree just down the road during winter.

Here is one of the Projects I taught at Printblocks in November. Andrew has asked me to teach again in March, and I will be teaching just one project for the whole day, and it will be a book. This wall hanger was a way of teaching lots of different techniques. I used only Graphic 45 papers and all the chipboard is from Imaginarium Designs. We used 4 different embossing powders + sprays, smooch and inks. We stamped and inked our way through the whole project. It is made up of 9 squares each one different. The frame is one from Imaginarium Designs.

The Together square has a prima flower, the flower and chipboard word are sprayed with smooch spritz .

The We don't remember days square is one of my favorite, I love quotes and this one is a favorite.

Anna's square has a chipboard "Tinnies Flourish", embossed in black embossing powder. You need to do it twice to build up the black. It makes it look amazing.

Beth's square is another favorite, it has a "Tinnies Frames" painted with smooch ink and a chipboard word inked black.

The Flower square is two sizzix die flowers - one is Tim Holtz's Tattered Flowers and the other flower die is called 3d flower, you need to roll it up into a tight roll.

Josh's square has one of Imagainarium Designs photo frame, which I cut in half. I inked it with black and stamped a back ground stamp embossed with silver embossing powder. I emboss my chipboard all the time as I love the look.

I have spent most of the week at home and so I don't have anything to show, other than a clean house and no ironing pile in my laundry. I will be at the shop tomorrow and again on Monday before we open on Tuesday.

I will post another of my pages tomorrow or Monday and my Masters projects Tuesday.

Ok, so it's not the Masters Projects

I forgot that in the rush to get my masters projects off, I didn't take any photos. Its now 6pm and I am still at the shop having taught my Graphic 45 Christmas prayer to 10 lovely Ladies, who went home worn out. I was going to show you my masters, but I am too tired to take the photos and then edit them and then post them on my blog. It feels like a job for Monday. Instead I will put another of my pages on my blog for you.

This one is on my Eldest Daughter, it may look familiar as I based a Graphic 45 layout on my book page. Because the book went to Graphic 45 and was to stay there and I loved this page so much I re-did it and changed it so I had it in a 12x12 layout for my album here in Australia. I used the Graphic 45 Bathing Beauty's on the front as a mat for Beth's photo. I love cutting out, so I cut out the three ladies in a row and shaped them to perch on the photo of the lady below. I had two cute photos of Beth, so one went on the front and I made a flap and used some beautiful K&Co hinges I had been saving for that special project! I have a beautiful photo Beth took of herself for the other side of the page. I used Tim Holtz's film strip, Maya road pins, 7 Gypsies Bracelet kit for Beth's title and ribbons. All the rub ons in the book are Creative Imaginations.

I love this range from Graphic 45, I think its the colours that speak to me and I use them over and over again. I also love German Scrap and the way it adds a border to my work. I also love using Graphic 45 to create frames and borders to my layouts.

It's Jade and My Turn on the Graphic 45's Blog

Hi everyone

It's Jade and my turn on the Graphic 45's Blog today. We both used "once a upon a Spring Time". Jade did an amazing layout, with a gorgeous photo on it. I decided to make a shadow box using one from Imaginarium Designs with French doors. I have not wanted to open my "once upon a springtime" pad, as it is all the paper I have, and I wanted to use it on something special. The box is the perfect project for one of my favorite photos of Anna and Me. Graphic 45 are doing a blog swap with Glue Arts and they kindly sent us some of their products to use. I used their Glue Glider Pro and it made the job so much neater and quicker. I love cutting out and as soon as I saw the Primrose Cottage Print Paper from the collection I knew I wanted to cut it out and drape it over something. It took about 2 hours to carefully cut out the pieces I needed and to put it all together. Well worth the time for the look I ended up with.

The Next Page in my Book

The Next Page in my book is on my Husband Malcolm. I decided to do a page with a pocket and make tags on Malcolm with each of our children to go in the pocket.

This tag is on Beth our first Child, in the photo I am expecting Anna and only had about 6 weeks to go. Beth and Anna are only 14 months apart. I was 20 when I had Beth.

This is the back of Beth's tag and is of Malcolm in Neo-natal with Anna. She needed special care for the first 4 weeks of her life, which with a 14 month old toddler made life interesting.

When it came to finding a photo of Leah with Malcolm I couldn't find one. So the front of Leah's tag is of all three girls with Malc and Me.

The back of the tag shows Malcolm and Leah on her wedding day. I love this photo of the two of them hugging.

This is Josh's tag our only boy and a delightful surprise after 3 girls.

The back of Josh's tag has Kate our last child and another beautiful Girl. She is a delight and as a toddler she would sit beside me all day watching what I was making and ever touched anything!
The whole page with all the tags in the pocket look great. I should have taken a photo of it but as the book is still in the States, what I have shown will have to do and you will need to use your imagination.

Its my turn on Graphic 45's Blog.

The Design Team at Graphic 45 have been doing a blog swap with Core dinations. They are the company that make embossed Card Stock. I haven't really played with this product before. So thanks to Graphic 45 for giving me the chance. It works like magic, you rub and rub and right before your eyes this embossed pattern appears giving a instant dimension to your paper. I have a thing about clocks, so I couldn't go past the black paper with the clocks hidden underneath. I use a photo of have of my darling eldest daughter and her Grandpa, sharing a quite moment together. It was take at my Mother in laws 70th birthday and with all the hustle and bustle going on around them, they seem to be quite on their own. I washed out most of the colour of the photo, but left a spot of colour on Beth's beautiful auburn hair. I then printed it out on cream criss cross bazzill to give it an aged look. I used one of the Graphic 45 papers to give me the lovely frame around the page. I also used another Graphic 45 paper to do the smaller frame around the photo.

I used some Imaginarium Designs Chipboard for my layout. The little clock was perfect for the top of my page and I found the title fitted it perfectly so I lay the two on top of each other. A larger clock was used to poke out from under the photo.

The other layout I did was on Josh. He has just started work after finishing year 12 a few weeks ago. My little man is no more, and not been my little man for quite a while. I decided to keep this layout simple and use the papers to their best. The background paper is one of the core impressions. The pattered paper has a diamond embossed layer, which when sanded shows beautiful. I rubbed an embossing ink pad all over the paper and then tipped copper embossing powder all over it. I used a paint brush to remove the copper from the diamond pattern in between the embossed diamonds. This means that the sanded diamonds have a light dusting of copper embossing powder over them. I chose another of the embossing papers which had a hounds tooth pattern on it. I sanded it and then stamped a diamond stamp and embossed it with copper embossing powder. I used some Imaginarium Designs chipboard, inked and covered with glossy ascents. I like the simplicity of the layout and the colours work well together.

At last - My Book

Here it is at last, I will be posting photos of my book, which is in Scrapbooking and Beyond (Fall Issue) out now, every couple of days for the next few weeks. This was my final project, which I made for Graphic 45's design team call. The guide lines for this project was that Graphic 45 got to keep it. For the first call of the design team, we were asked to submit photos of 10 projects. Graphic 45 suggested that due to the time constraints that we should have started working on a final project as soon as the 10 projects were sent. As I didn't expect to make the final round I had not started anything. I was so amazed to see my name on the list. This meant that I only had about 5 days to do a project and have enough time to get it to the states by the cut off date. It was kinda hard to say goodbye to it, knowing that I would not see it again. To my delight, Graphic 45 loved the book and Diane every kindly brought it back when she visited Printblocks early this year. I attended the event and got quite emotional holding it again, but parted with it again, so it could go back to USA and be hopefully published there. I am now teaching it at Seriously Scrapbooking and making one for myself at the same time. The classes have been running for 4 months now. We do one double page each month. I will be starting a new group in the new year, so if you would like to make your own with me, then ring the shop 82771298 and they will take your details and get back to you with a date later.

So a bit about the book. As the title says, its about the people I love. The first page is on my husband and myself, with a photo of us before we were married and a photo of us taken a couple of years go in Darwin while we were on holiday. I found an old bible book and used the covers to give me a strong hard base for the covers of my book. Each page is made so that the join is hidden and when opened each page looks like a layout. Each page is 7 3/4 inches x 8 1/2 so when you put two together the page is 15 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded in half. This means that every page had to have papers joined to make it look like it was continuous. Once all the pages where made and folded, I put a strip of paper down the join on the back of the pages, which is what you can see in the middle photo of the spine. I made 7 pages in all, one on Malc and me, Malc and our children, and then one for each of my five children. I would have loved to include my parents and siblings, but because of only having 5 days I had to leave them out. I really love the project and think it is my best work to date. Hope you enjoy looking at my book over the next few weeks, or if you are lucky enough to get your hands on a Scrapbooking and Beyond magazine, and then you will have a copy of your own.

It's Official

I had it confirmed today that I will be teaching at the Scrapbook, Papercraft Expo and Convention. This event is held each year in Brisbane and the dates for next year is 11th -13th of June 2011. I would like to thank Graphic 45 and Printblocks for the opportunity to share my love and passion with everyone attending. I will be teaching 3 classes each day. I hope to do 5-7 different classes some repeated, using "once upon a springtime" and the other new lines we know nothing about yet from Graphic 45, but which will be released at CHA in January. I will be doing layouts, cards, more mini squares and other off the page projects. I will try to let you know when you can book into my classes. Tutorial for My Christmas Tree

Here is the Christmas Tree tutorial as promised.

Cut a piece of cardboard to a triangle shape for the base of the tree. Round the cardboard each size to give it some shape rather than having it flat.
Cut strips of paper 8-9mm wide and cut into rectangles about an inch long. You will need thinner strips of paper 5mm and an inch long. The larger ones will be for the bottom of the tree and the thinner ones at the top. Each of the pieces need to have one end cut to a point, as shown above.
Use a paint brush and wrap the pointed end around the brush to make the pointed end curl. If you have trouble then you can spray the pieces with water to make it easier.

Start at the bottom on the tree and glue one piece on at a time. You can overlap each piece if you need to. Use the wider pieces first. When you start the second row glue them down over the top of the bottom row above the curling bit. You can have the rows as close or as spread out as you like.

Keep adding rows of curled pieces. As you work your way up the tree, you can use thinner pieces. Remember you can overlap the pieces on each row to help make them fit.
Add glitter to each curl or crystals. You can decorate your tree as you wish. Try some white embossing powder for snow. When finished shape the tree again, as you have been gluing the pieces on your tree you will have flattened it. Cut a pot shape out of cardboard and tuck it under your tree, when you add it to a page. This tree would work if you wanted to make a completely round one. You would need to make a cone and add the papers all the way around. I will be making one like this for a Tim Holtz configurations box that I am working on. Will post photos during the holidays.

My Christmas Prayer

This is a layout I did for Graphic 45. It is a wall hanging with a Christmas Prayer.

I wanted to make something that reminds us what Christmas is really all about.

I chose a Prayer by Robert Lousi Stevenson

Loving Father,

Help us remember the birth of Jesus that we may share in the song of the angles,

the gladness of the shepherds,and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world.

Fly in and Fly out!

Kathy and I went to Melbourne for the day to do an all day course on using Copic Markers. We are now both Certified to teach. We had a great day and learnt heaps. I never knew how much fun you could have colouring in with the markers. The image above is my first effort, and there is room for improvment! I will be doing some seriously coloring in over the Christmas. We will be running some classes in the new year at Seriously Scrapbooking, so check out their blog for updates closer to the new year.

I have sent another project into Graphic 45, its a Christmas wall hanger with a hand made Christmas tree. I will put a tutorial for the tree once it is on the Graphic 45 Blog.

I logged into my Facebook today to catch up on the gossip and found that my friend Candy had left a message for me. My book I made for Graphic 45 as my entry for the final round, the one I have been mentioning but never showing photo's of is out in print in the USA in Scrapbooking and Beyond. (If you want to see for your self, just click the link). This is the reason why I have never put photos of it on the blog or in my Graphic 45 Gallery or why it has not been on their blog as well. As soon as Diane met me in Australia she asked if I wanted my book published in the states and of course I said yes, please do. Well it has finally happened. Scrapbooking and beyond have put a photo of my Cover as part of their promotion for their winter Issue. I can not tell you how excited I am to have my work published in America. They have asked to see more of my work as well, even better.

For some more unbelievable and exciting news (I am still pinching myself). I will be attending CHA in January, how exciting is this. I will be walking round looking at all the booths, doing make and takes, watching all the famous people in scrapbooking doing demonstrations and taking photos of my own work on display at CHA. I have to admit to being very very disappointed that all Tim Holtz's classes are booked out. Still I will be able to see him demonstrating some time during the show.

Way too much excitement for one day.

Back Home again

Back home again and right into teaching again. It's Wednesday night and I am catching up on my blog after teaching two classes today. Blossomwood this morning and my Family Album class this afternoon.
I got back from Printblocks Tuesday afternoon in time for Josh's year 12 dinner (more about that later this week). I had a great time teaching at Printblocks and I think all the ladies enjoyed the day. They all must have been tired by the end as it was full on all day. It was great seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones. Next time I will have to get you all to wear name tags with shop names as well. I was delighted with how well the class went, as I had not taught it before. It was a project I special did for Printblocks and using Imaginarium Designs and Graphic 45 - my two favorite companies.

Getting Ready for Printblocks

I am heading off on Sunday for Brisbane to teach all day Monday at Printblocks. I am really looking forward to this class. I hope every one booked in is ready for a busy and creative day. We will be doing a layout, wall piece and a surprise (if we have time and I get it finished!) I am teaching lots of techniques in this class, so be warned we will be getting our hands very dirty. If you are attending bring lots of baby wipes and an apron. You do need to be a store owner or teacher to attend. If are not, then you need to tell your local store owner to attend so she/he can teach it to you.

After the class I will share all the projects with you.

As Promised

I have been running lots of classes over the past two years, where my ladies buy one of the K&Company Paper Pads. I do a double layout each month and they do my class. At the end of the 12 months, they and I have an Album all finished. This is the latest one I have just started. The collection of papers and embellishments is called blossomwood.

This is quite outside of my comfort zone, but I am loving working with Kraft (for the first time). I used one of Prima's vine and added some crystals to give it a lift.

I love this photo of my beautiful girls of which I am blessed to have 4. This photo was taken at Penola and they were just mucking around with each other. I have change the colour of my photo by lightening it and then removing some of the colour intensity.

I stamped a background stamp in vintage photo, added a chipboard title from Imaginarium Designs inked black over the stamped image. I love working with papers so I always use two or three and sometimes four different prints on my layouts. I am not good a leaving space on my layouts so this is proving to be quite a challenge for me. I am enjoying where this is taking me and the more I look at the layout the more I like it.

What's New

Have you seen the new paper range "once upon a Spring Time" from Graphic 45. I can't wait to get my hands on it and start playing with it all. The ideas are endless. I also got in our store Tim Holtz's configurations so I think I will have to combind the two and see what I come up with.

I will be teaching in Brisbane again for Printblocks on the 15th November. I really enjoyed my day there last time. So if you are a store owner or teacher then spend the day with me. The class is over half full already so don"t leave it to late.

I will be sharing a layout with you tomorrow, as my good camera is home due to my son doing his year 12 art and having to take lots of photos. My old camera is here at the shop and the battery's are flat!!!!.

I have a loving Admirer

Aren't these just beautiful, I received them yesterday for my birthday from a "Loving Admirer". I don't often get a big bunch, it's usual a long stem red rose, but this was just beautiful. I was very spoiled as two friends arrived each with a home made cake. Another friend arrived with biscuits and her sister brought butter chicken, enough for the whole family. At my Tuesday night class I was given some beautiful hand made cards and chocolates. Due to work commitments my family birthday tea has been moved to lunch on Sunday. I am told that my presents will be arriving in the post any day soon.

I feel very blessed to have family and friends to share my birthday with. Still have a couple of years before another big one.

Just a Quick Update

What a week, last Saturday I did the catering for a friends wedding. Finger food for 180 people and all hand made. This Sunday cooking for a big group from all the Christalphans Meetings in Adelaide for 1200 people. It's going to be jacket potato's has I don't have enough ovens for any thing else. Should be lots of fun with a bit of work as well. Luckily I have a great team of people who just pitch in and help.

On the creative front, I got a letter from Scrapbooking and beyond in America wanting to publish my final project that I sent to Graphic 45 for the design team entry last year. It has been a long wait and I have been unable to share the "book"with you all, due to it being published by the magazine. It should be in print early next year. Very happy that my work is being accepted overseas for publication. I got my masters projects back today. So nice to see them again. Hope to have one of them published in the masters magazine issue in December, fingers crossed.

Have been updating my Graphic 45 ning page and have added some more photos. So I will share here as well. They are photos of my Halloween in Wonderland album I did for CHA this year. I used a Graphic 45 kraft album and an 8x8 paper pad. This gave me miniature images, which are perfect for a small project. I am hoping to teach this one, once I get it back from Graphic 45.

A blast from the Past

Wow, sorting through some files on my computer, and found photo's of one of my first off the page projects. I love this mini book with photo's of my son Josh playing in water on Saturday afternoon. The book is a 6x6 inch size. The inside is made of 3 - 12x12 paper s all folded into quarters. You tape one of each of the quarters together, making sure the pages all fold together so the book ends up being 6x6. Attach a front and back cover and there you are. The inside book folds out to show all three 12x12 papers. It is still one of my favorite projects. I have taught this book to so many ladies. It is perfect for a quick present.

Trick or Treat

As it is October, Graphic 45 asked all the design team to make a trick or treat bag. I spent ages trying to find glow in the dark paint, pen or even embossing powder. No such luck. I had to make do with gloves which I attached to the sides of my bag. They can be worn or used as part of the decoration. Candy has posted my bag on the Graphic 45 blog so this means I can now share with you all. I used halloween in wonderland and cut some of the images from it. The chipboard shapes are from Imaginarium Designs. I have inked some with black ink then sprayed haunted shadows glimmer mist on them. The cat and tree, have just been sprayed with haunted shadows glimmer mist. This is one of my favorite colours. Although we don't do halloween in Australia I did have fun making this bag.

Just finishing my projects to teach at Printblocks in November. More about that later!

Something of mine published

Well, finally got some of my work published. Special thanks to Scrapbooking Creations for publishing a tutorial for me. Its in their September magazine - out now. The tutorial is for a 7 Gypsies mini book I did on Josh for my Graphic 45 first round entry. Love mini books and in this project I used the 8x8 Proper Gentleman paper pad. So glad they use a model's hands and not mine for the photos!

Thought I would share a page I taught last night. I have been teaching Ancestry classes for the past three years to a dedicated group of ladies. We have two albums full of layouts using K&Companys Ancestry line of papers. Each month we get together and do another layout. Mine don't have photos in yet. I think I will need to retire before I get around to do the photos and journaling! The class has turned into another two classes, which are held on the first and last Friday each month. Again another two groups of ladies are doing the layouts all over again. I used some of the collection houses on this page. My layouts in these classes are kept quite simple.
Its all about the photos and stories in Ancestry and not about over decorated layouts.

A Sneak Peek

I have sent another layout to Candy today for the Graphic 45 team. Its a boy's layout using steampunk + Chipboard. I have decide to teach it next week end at the scrapbooking fair being held in Adelaide at the Marion leasure centre on Daws Road. I have the class room from 10am -11.30pm. The cost of the class + kit is $35. You will need to ring the shop and book in as I am limited to 16 people. Classes at Printblocks

I had so much fun teaching at Printblocks on Monday. The 30 ladies who attended were all so nice, and I hope enjoyed the day with me. We did a Graphic 45 layout, a Making Memories Mini Travel Album and three cards. For the first two projects, we all did them at the same time. For the cards, I got them to re-arrange the room. This gave me three groups of tables and each table did one different card. The ladies moved from the groups of table as they made each of the cards. It was a bit messy but I couldn't teach everyone the same card at the same time. Printblocks were great and really looked after me. I will be back there teaching again early November.

We have been flat out in the shop this week, 10 boxes arrived with all the new products. So it's been Christmas everyday. Have taught 4 classes this week as well, with another 2 tomorrow. So at the moment the girls are getting all the kits done for printblocks. Our chipboard arrived yesterday and I think it will have to go on the plane as hand luggage!

Time to Share Another Layout

This is of my favorite layouts. I did it for Graphic 45 as one of my 10 projects needed to make the 1st round for their design team. Its a page on my daughter Anna, I had a photo of her on a Merry-go-Round at Victor Harbor. She was 6 years old. I just love the photo, and it is very special. As a younger child she hated being on any thing that moved. Part of her early intervention included puting her on a board with 1/2 a ball under it. She would sit on it and I would tilt it from side to side, backward and forward. This taught her to move her body to counter the tilt and retain her balance. All the time spent with her paid off. By the time she was 12, she could jump up and down on a trampolen and skip with a skiping rope at the same time. In the photo she looked like she was enjoying herself, but not quite sure about it all. I used the stripe paper from the play time past collection. It's built up with foam tape, this creates a shallow shadow box. I can then add lots of bits to my page and start layering some of them. Frames on a page are my thing at the moment.

A sneek peek of one of my classes at Printblocks

Hi everyone,
I have been flat out doing instructions and taking photos for my classes at Printblocks. The classes are for people, who are customers of Printblocks. I am doing a layout using Graphic 45, a travel album which started out as a mini album and has taken on a life of its own and is now way to fat! and some cards. There are still some spots left, so if you want to do the classes at your local scrapbooking store, then check that they are attending.
I thinking of doing a Tim Holtz and taking some photos of all the kits I am putting together. I only have to get 105 organized and not the 100's Tim does.
I am really looking forward to teaching at Printblocks (Monday 30th).
